Take control of the details for a stress-free move

It's moving season and Americans are once again facing the stress of packing their lives into boxes and hoping everything arrives in one piece. The U. S. Census Bureau reports Americans move an average of 11.7 times in their lifetimes, with more than 20 percent of those moves ending in a different state.

A recent survey commissioned by The UPS Store and Mail Boxes Etc. franchise network revealed Americans' worst moving fears: broken or lost items (49 percent); moving company surcharges or late delivery (45 percent); watching movers mishandle fragile items (42 percent); and running out of packing supplies during the move (25 percent).

Despite notable concerns about broken items, the survey showed that a majority of Americans still try to get by with packing items in newspaper, clothes, sheets, towels or blankets or tissue paper. Only one-third of those surveyed sought professional recommendations on packaging supplies.

"Moving is tough, but we've found the people who have the most successful moves are the ones who take control," said Cheri Golden, The UPS Store franchisee.

What can you do to take control of your next big move? Golden offers the following suggestions:

* Plan ahead. Get expert advice by calling moving companies for quotes or asking for referrals from friends or co-workers. Web sites like amconf. org provide useful tips on moving and finding reputable moving companies.

* Buy enough of the right materials. Don't rely on what's lying around the house to protect your precious cargo. By using the right packing materials, there is less of a chance that your dishes or family heirlooms will end up in pieces. Remember, heavy furniture or bulky items might be stacked on top or up against these fragile items, so be sure they're protected to withstand the pressure.

* Leave it to professionals to handle large, expensive or irreplaceable items. A vast majority of survey respondents - 83 percent - would want professional help moving family heirlooms, electronics and heavy items such as pianos. Places like The UPS Store or Mail Boxes Etc. offer freight services, which can be an affordable and reliable alternative to standard movers.

Taking the time to plan ahead and investing in the proper packing materials can help reduce stress when the big day arrives. - NU

Sexual health supplements for men

A man's sexual health as well as libido can decrease for several reasons. Many men experience erection difficulties when they reach a certain period in their lives, and libido can also decline as well. But in these cases, all they really need is a good lifestyle change. By having a simple and healthy lifestyle, together with the help of sexual health supplements that are medically proven to work, such sexual health issues can be addressed accordingly.

Aside from physical health problems, lifestyle can also affect a man’s sexual health. Smoking cigarettes, excessively drinking alcohol, and the use of illicit drugs can all negatively affect a man’s sexual health and performance. When it comes to male sexual wellness, it is important to remember that healthy living is the key. Healthy lifestyle entails having a balanced and, if possible, all-natural diet. Men must also engage in regular exercise to maintain cardiovascular health. Heavily processed foods and those with lots of preservatives also pose a health risk. Men should eat a lot of vegetables and lean meat. A good reminder for men: you are what you eat. Remember that the body does not work in groups and isolated portions, but rather functions well as a whole. If the body is generally healthy, then an increase in both sexual health and libido can be expected.

Argentine is a nutrient that is considered a highly important ingredient for peak sexual performance. Often nicknamed as “nature's Viagra”, this is the best sexual health supplement for men and their sexual wellness. Current studies of this supplement suggest that it helps ensure nitric oxide secretion, a substance that must be produced in sufficient amounts to keep the blood flowing to the penis. Therefore, proper blood flow will then make an erection successful, since an insufficient supply of nitric oxide can stop the penis from becoming erect. To back this up, a study published in 1994 showed an 80% improvement of men who had erectile dysfunction who were given such a supplement. This shows that Argentine is an essential supplement for lack of libido, and is available even without a prescription.

Another supplement called Tyrosine is a sexual health supplement for men that supports and assists the functions of neurotransmitters in the brain. Normally, when the body feels stressed out, aged, or tired, the availability of Tyrosine is decreased. This is a supplement that helps reduce stress, improves mental alertness, and enhances mood --- all of which help increase a man's sexual drive. Of course, mood is important in terms of male sexual wellness, and a major reason for having short term impotence can be of stress, anxiety, and depression. Tyrosine helps by lifting one's mood, and as a consequence, can also enhance one's sex drive and libido.

Chinese body tonics are also good in helping improve a man's sexual health. They can also serve as sexual health supplements that help in improving mood and blood flow around the body, including the circulation of blood to the genitals. Gingko Biloba is a supplement that is used to improve blood flow to the brain, thus improving concentration, memory, and enhances blood flow to the legs. It also doubles as an antioxidant. Ginseng is also good as a revitalizing tonic that is both stimulating and restorative. This improves physical and mental energy, stamina, strength, alertness, and concentration.

Credit cards explained

Are you relatively new to the credit card world, and wondering how they all work? There are many types of credit cards out there. In addition to brand names such as Visa and Mastercard, there are many different categories credit cards can fall into.

The first is ‘secured’ or ‘unsecured’. Secured credit cards are cards that are secured by putting a deposit in escrow between you and the bank. If you stop paying on your card, they repossess the deposit and so they don’t have to try to get the money out of you.

Unsecured cards are cards that the bank issues when they believe they can trust you with credit without a deposit. These are harder to get. There are also pre-paid credit cards, which pretty much work as glorified gift cards that are accepted in all the same places credit cards are. These can be given out as gifts, company incentives, or purchased for yourself for uses such as travel.

There are also business credit cards. These cards typically offer incentives for company travel, office supplies, and the like, so businesses will want to place expense accounts on their cards. These can make life a lot easier for a small business when they are trying to separate their accounts so that they can accurately determine expenses.

Many small businesses use these types of credit cards to pay for the costs of running the company then they can use the statements for the end of year tax bill to relive tax bills.

With all these types of credit cards, it can be tough to make a decision. But I’m sure after reading this article you have a bit of a clearer idea on where to go when searching for credit cards. Best of luck!

Gear up for summer with hot sunglasses

Sunglasses are essential as a summer accessory! They have been popular for a long time, not only to protect your eyes, but also to complete your fashion statement. When the sun is bright we wear sunglasses all through the year. Sunglasses are even more useful in the summer because it is a time for relaxation and recreation.

Sunglasses provide important protection for your eyes. Whether you have several inexpensive pairs or one good pair, there are certain things to look for when you buy sunglasses. Look for glasses that block 99% ultraviolet rays.

UV Protection

Prolonged exposure to UV rays can be harmful to the eyes and have been linked to eye disease. People with eye disease, such as macular degeneration or retinal dystrophies need to protect their eyes when they go outside. Persons who have had cataract surgery may need extra protection too.

Mirrored sunglasses offer relief from glare but not necessarily UV protection. You should wear lenses dark enough for the brightness in which you will wear them. For especially bright conditions, such as snow skiing or water sports, you will be more comfortable with a darker lens. In most daily conditions you can wear sunglasses with a medium darkness.

Polarized glasses reduce reflected glare such as sunlight reflecting off water, pavement, or snow. They can also be combined with UV protection and are perfect for driving and fishing. The wraparound style is helpful in keeping UV rays from entering the eyes from the sides.

Buying Sunglasses Online

There are many online sites that offer great deals on brand name sunglasses. There are specialty online stores that sell quality products at discount prices. You can get a good deal on Oakley, Smith, Spy Optic, Action Optics, Costa del Mar, and Wiley X sunglasses.

You can find any style to fit your needs. There are sports sunglasses and goggles available for all variety of sports. There are sunglasses and goggles for water and snow sports, such as skiing and fishing. There are also glasses for baseball, golf, tennis, shooting and cycling. You will also find fitovers to wear for your favorite activities. Whatever your preference, you will have unlimited choices online.

Be Ready For Summer

While you are shopping online for sunglasses, you can also find great accessories to go with them. There are clips and holders and bags to protect your glasses and prevent their loss. There are even flotation cords and packs to keep them safe while you enjoy your favorite water sports!

It is time to get ready for summer. Start by purchasing sunglasses to fit your activities and lifestyle. Buy a pair that looks good on you and gives adequate protection to your eyes. When summer comes, you will be ready to enjoy fun in the sun!

Creating rubber stamps not all methods created equal part 2 of 3

Welcome back! In part one of this three-part series, the advantages and disadvantages of laser-engraved rubber stamps were discussed. As discussed in the first article, although laser engraving has a high start-up cost, its quality and efficiency are second to none. In this segment, you will learn the benefit and fallbacks of a photoengraving stamp-making method.

Making a rubber stamp through a chemical or photopolymer process will also require significant start-up costs. Depending on the equipment capabilities, quality, or size, a photopolymer stamp-making kit may cost anywhere from $400-$4000. This process requires a significant amount of labor and tends to have a higher turnaround time.

The first step of the photopolymer process involves creating a negative of the image to be engraved. To begin, create or obtain a completely black graphic on a completely white background. If the graphic has colors, save or convert it to a monochrome or two-color format. A simple graphics editor, such as Paint (which automatically comes with a Windows OS) will allow the user to “Save As” and choose a “Save as type” as “Monochrome Bitmap.” This will convert the colored graphic into a black-and-white bitmap file. Once the image is completely black and white, using a graphics editor (again, Paint will work), invert the colors. This will create a white image on a black background.

Turnaround time for a rubber stamp will vary greatly, as this variable is contingent on the creation of a metal plate. If you are creating stamps for fun, you will need to have enough graphics to fill both a metal plate and a matrix (mold) board. The metal plate and matrix board can be made on a partial board; however, this is not an efficient use of materials and may make for uneven molds and/or stamps. If maximum efficiency is desired, enough graphics will need to be obtained to create a full metal plate. Additionally, the photopolymer process does not allow small businesses to make custom rubber stamps efficiently, as these rubber stamps tend to be made for a one-time order and the mold is no longer needed.

Depending on the materials at hand, the metal plate may need to be made by an engraving company. Once the metal place has been engraved, it is placed in a machine with the matrix board and, with a combination of heat and pressure known as vulcanization, the matrix board is made into a mold. The rubber is cut to the size of the mold, placed in the vulcanizer, and creates a rubber stamp through a similar process of heat and pressure. Be warned: as a mold is put under heat and pressure every time a rubber stamp is created, it may only last for 40-60 stamp vulcanizations.

After the rubber has been pressed, it can be cut into individual stamps. As the rubber is quite thick, most stamp enthusiasts agree regular scissor are not sufficient. Kai Scissors are a considered an essential tool in the arts and crafts world. These scissors can be found at crafts stores or on the web, and Kai Scissors makes 15+ styles and sizes of scissors. Mounting foam is also needed to ensure the block the stamp is mounted on does not come in contact with the surface to be stamped. Once the rubber and mounting foam have been cut, the stamps are glued to a wooden mound and are ready to impress!

We have discussed laser engraving, photoengraving, and one last stamp-making method is yet to come! Next, learn how to make rubber stamps, without any special or expensive equipment, from the privacy of your own home!

Ride motorcycle to save money and for pleasure

The rising cost of gasoline in todays world has pushed the average consumer to new extremes to try to conserve fuel, and save money. There have been many inventions to help gain gas mileage, with the most recent being hybrid cars. Ever since the invention of the motorcycle in the early 1900's people have been improving upon the engines of the motorcycle and have been perfecting the fuel efficiency. However, no commercially ready solution so far has been able to compare to the motorcycles legendary conservation of gasoline.

The main reason that motorcycles receive such excellent fuel mileage, is simply a matter of weight. There is less machine and driver to propel forward, so there is less fuel consumed. This has been attempted in the car realm, however the results have been a bit hilarious. Three wheeled, covered cars simply look ridiculous. Any self respecting motorcycle rider wouldn't be caught in one of those things.

Some people may make the claim that their small car is better for their family. In some cases this may be true. However a family of three can ride in a motorcycle. Simply use a mounted side car and have one passenger in the side car, while the other passenger rides behind the driver. Using this configuration still allows for fuel savings, and gives the family some time spent on the open road in a fun and enjoyable way. When using this configuration, consider using a set of helmet mounted radios so that the whole family can communicate with each other.

Some motorcycles are able to achieve an amazing 80 miles per gallon of fuel, standard, not modified from the factory. The best car so far, commercially made has been a 63 miles per gallon hybrid from Honda. However, there is a point to consider in all of this, regarding insurance. With a brief interview from a national insurance company, the representative said that it is generally cheaper for motorcycle insurance than for automobile insurance. Of course the actual amount that would be paid is based upon the drivers experience, driving history, motorcycle or automobile type, safety factors of each vehicle, and the actual cost of the vehicle.

So should you buy a motorcycle to replace your car? That choice is up to you. However, in a recent study, an independent company found that with rising costs of fuel, the sales of motorcycles has risen dramatically. I'm sure that these people did not simply trade in their cars for their new motorcycles. Rather they have started using the motorcycles for day to day errand running and such.

The last thing to consider when deciding whether to ride or drive, is the fun factor. Riding a motorcycle has been described as low altitude flying. Feeling the motor surge and the road soar beneath you as the machine floats along on a cushion of fun. Can you say that you feel this in a car? That is most likely not the case.

Making your own flower arrangements

Flowers have long been used to symbolize life’s important events and emotions. Roses are symbols of love, lilies, the flowers of death and renewal, and carnations a sign of appreciation. We use flowers as wedding decorations, Valentine’s Day presents and Christmas ornaments. No matter what the occasion is, a beautiful flower arrangement is a wonderful way to celebrate life through vibrant colors and rich floral scents.

Florists provide customers with a variety of arrangements made specifically for certain occasions and events. However, if you are on a budget, flower arrangements can be fairly pricey. Professional florists charge exorbitant amounts for their expertise, and the flowers themselves can be extremely expensive. Making your own arrangements can be a fun and creative alternative to ordering pieces from a florist. By purchasing flowers individually, you can choose the exact colors and scents you need to say exactly what you want to communicate.

When making your own flower arrangement, you should first consider its purpose. If you are making arrangements for a wedding, white is typically the presiding color. You should start with basic white flowers and add a few accents that match the bridesmaids’ dresses. Large leafy green pieces add a nice contrast to delicate buds for table centerpieces, and sometimes simplicity is the best aesthetic tactic. If you are making centerpieces for several tables, you can purchase your flowers in bulk and use one design over and over again, or you can make each piece an individual work of art.

For vase arrangements, choose your container first, and pick flowers that are the correct height for the vase. When you cut your flowers, be sure to cut the stems at an angle so they can absorb water correctly and stay fresh for a long time. Vase arrangements require a focal point, and this can be one large flower or a grouping of several. It is important to choose a color scheme and to stick with it. For instance, you would not want to mix red and pink roses, or to combine yellow daisies with died green carnations. Make sure you choose flowers that look and smell good in combination with each other, and fill in the gaps with baby’s breath and leafy greenery.

When you are making larger potted flower arrangements, an aesthetically pleasing plant is a great base for your design. However, you might not want to combine a spiky cactus with soft blooming roses. If you are using only flowers, you will need a piece of arranging foam to provide a structure for the piece. Green foam can be purchased at most craft stores, and it can be cut to fit any shape you need. Before you start sticking in your stems, you might sketch out an idea of the final product. If the arrangement is to be large, pick a few large flowers to act as focal points rather than picking a multitude of tiny blooms. Too many small flowers distract the eye and make the arrangement seem busy rather than soothing.

Once you have chosen all of your flowers and greenery, begin arranging them in the container. It will take several tries and lot of adjusting before your create a finished product, but be confident and do what looks best. Arranging flowers is an intuitive art, and if you have chosen a good color scheme and a variety of shapes and sizes, the correct eye-pleasing concoction will often fall into place with little effort. When you are finished, you will have a beautiful, natural decoration to perk up even the gloomiest of environments, and you will have the satisfaction of having created a wonderful work of art.

Recognizing changing symptoms in parkinson s disease may help patients to better manage their condition

Parkinson's disease (PD) affects about 1 million people in the United States and 50,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. As researchers learn more about the disease, improved treatment options are possible.

That's good news for people like Paul Ramirez, a World War II veteran and avid dancer. He was first diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1999, after his wife saw him shuffling his feet during their daily neighborhood walks. Like many people with PD, Ramirez was treated with a traditional levodopa medication to manage his symptoms.

Levodopa is the most widely used symptomatic PD treatment and has remained the "gold standard" of care for nearly 40 years. The majority of people with PD eventually need levodopa treatment to control their symptoms, even if they begin their therapy with other medications. After several years of treatment with levodopa, however, people with PD may see changes in the way their medication controls their symptoms. Symptoms may return before it is time for the next dose of medication.

For Ramirez, the change in duration of his symptom control became increasingly noticeable after the first two to three years of levodopa treatment. Not only did he find that the onset of daily symptoms was becoming less predictable, he also found that his "off" time was increasing, meaning his motor symptoms, like freezing and slowness of movement, lasted for longer periods of time during each day.

Since Ramirez's PD symptoms were not controlled as long as they could be, he needed to use a walker in order to maintain his balance, which severely limited his ability to participate in the activities that he enjoyed.

"I love to dance, but within a few years of being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, I found that I not only couldn't dance, but many times I was even too weak to walk. It was very frustrating," says Ramirez.

The change in symptom control that he experienced is called "wearing off." Symptoms associated with levodopa therapy "wearing off" can include both motor and nonmotor symptoms. Motor symptoms may include trembling or shaking and nonmotor symptoms may include anxiety or feeling restless. When levodopa medication "wears off," it can make even basic daily activities, such as walking and dressing, difficult for the person with Parkinson's disease.

Ramirez's doctor, Kevin Callerame, M. D., staff Adult Neurologist at the NeuroMedical Center in Baton Rouge, La., says, "The good news is that the motor symptoms of 'wearing off' can be treated with newer levodopa medications that can help increase the time levodopa controls the symptoms of Parkinson's disease."

When Dr. Callerame saw him in the summer of 2004, the physician noticed that he would have frequent freezing episodes.

Dr. Callerame began treating Ramirez with a Parkinson's disease medication called Stalevo® (carbidopa, levodopa and entacapone). Stalevo is an enhanced levodopa medication that combines levodopa with two other components to reduce its side effects and extend its benefits. Stalevo tablets are indicated for certain PD patients who have levodopa-related "wearing off" motor complications.

In the year since Ramirez's medication has changed, Dr. Callerame says, "Ramirez's symptoms have been controlled for four to five hours, versus one to two hours, following each dose of Stalevo." For Ramirez, longer symptom control has enabled him to walk more easily, and that has given him the confidence to try other activities that he once enjoyed.

Dr. Callerame urges people with Parkinson's disease to communicate openly with their doctors because different treatment options may be available. However, in order to treat "wearing off," it must first be identified.

A new, free-of-charge information and resource kit is available for people with Parkinson's disease that can help to identify the signs and symptoms of "wearing off." The kit contains a diary card to track when symptoms come back between doses of medication.

To order a free StEP Kit, call 1-866-STEP-KIT (1-866-783-7548) toll-free or visit stepkit. net.

Ramirez's story represents the successful treatment with Stalevo (carbidopa, levodopa and entacapone) of an actual patient with Parkinson's disease and experiencing "wearing off." Because every patient responds differently, results may vary. In a clinical trial, Stalevo provided, on average, 1.4 more hours a day of symptom relief than standard levodopa.

Recognizing the signs and symptoms of "wearing off" can help you manage your Parkinson's disease symptoms.

Important Information for Patients Regarding Stalevo®: Stalevo® (carbidopa, levodopa and entacapone) tablets are indicated for patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). Stalevo is a medicine that can be used instead of carbidopa/levodopa and Comtan® (entacapone) by patients taking those medicines as separate tablets. Depending on levodopa dose and side effects, Stalevo can also be used to replace carbidopa/levodopa when the benefits of levodopa are wearing off. Please ask your health care professional if Stalevo is appropriate for you. Stalevo is supplied as tablets in three strengths: Stalevo 50, containing 12.5 mg carbidopa, 50 mg levodopa and 200 mg entacapone; Stalevo 100, containing 25 mg carbidopa, 100 mg levodopa and 200 mg entacapone; and Stalevo 150, containing 37.5 mg carbidopa, 150 mg levodopa and 200 mg entacapone. The most common side effects of Stalevo are unwanted or uncontrollable movements (known as dyskinesia); nausea; diarrhea; excessive muscle movements (known as hyperkinesia); harmless discoloration of urine, sweat and/or saliva; diminished or slow movements (known as hypokinesia); abdominal pain; dizziness; constipation; fatigue; pain; and hallucinations. Some of the more serious side effects may include severe diarrhea, severe dyskinesia, hallucinations, other mental disturbances, orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure), rhabdomyolysis (a muscle disease), and symptoms resembling neuroleptic malignant syndrome (a condition characterized by fever and muscle stiffness). Tell your health care professional if you have bothersome side effects. He or she can make adjustments that may reduce these effects. You should not quickly lower your Stalevo dose or suddenly stop it altogether. Drugs broken down by the COMT enzyme (e. g., isoproterenol, epinephrine) should be used with caution when taking Stalevo. If you take a nonselective monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor, you should not take Stalevo. Stalevo should not be taken with selegiline at doses higher than 10 mg/day. Because Stalevo contains entacapone, it should not be taken together with Comtan. Be careful using Stalevo if you have severe heart or lung disease; asthma; renal, hepatic or endocrine disease; or a history of heart attacks or ulcers. Do not take Stalevo if you have glaucoma, melanoma or other related medical disorders. Before you take Stalevo, talk to your doctor about any health problems you might have.

Roller-skating - a popular sport

Many people seem to think that roller skates are a relatively recent invention, and a popular 20th-century kids’ toy. However, roller skates have actually been around for over two centuries, and have many other uses apart from child’s play.

The most commonly seen kind of roller skates today are actually roller blades, also known as inline skates. They have all the wheels in a line instead of arranged in the classic car-style formation, which allows you to travel much faster at the expense of making it a little more difficult to balance, a similar trade-off to that made with a two-wheeled bicycle.

In fact, the original purpose of roller skates was as a means of transportation: a kind of ‘wheeled shoe’ that you could fix to your feet and move from one place to another with little effort. Although it is rare, some people still use them this way today – particularly teenagers, but also office workers in cities who don’t have too far to go and don’t want to take a bike.

Roller-skating is also a popular sport, and it is even thought that it might soon be added to the Olympics. Skate-parks that have been designed to accommodate the resurgence of skateboarding can also be easily used for roller-skating, and skaters can pull off similar tricks and manoeuvres to skateboarders this way. Roller skate racing is also quite popular, with people competing to get from one side of an obstacle course to the other in the fastest time.

If you’re still not convinced of the popularity of roller skating, it’s worth noting that every week in many of the world’s largest cities, tens of thousands gather and skate together. The biggest and most famous event is Paris’ Friday-night Pari Roller, but smaller events can be found in Berlin, Tokyo and London, among others.

Retirement living

The rising number of baby boomers will likely have a great impact on retirment living. As many of them near retirement, they will likely alter the definition of what it means to be retired. Many seniors today are seeking a more active lifestyle. Many of these people don't really want to retire, and some will work part-time for the rest of their lives. Other seniors view retirement as being a time where they can enjoy hobbies and other things they are interested in.

To serve this large market, a number of destination retirement communities have been established. They are targeted towards seniors who want low living expenses, or who prefer to live in warm climates. For other seniors, living close to family members is very important. While they may want to move into a place that is smaller, they will not want to leave the comfort of the communities they live in. The goal of destination retirements is to create an environment where seniors and baby boomers can relax with a large number of amenities. These places will often be located near golf courses, spas, hiking trails, and fitness centers. These locations are designed so that those who live there can enjoy themselves.

The houses that are built in these communities will use materials that are easy to maintain, and they will be open and easy to access. Because the people living in the places will be older, it uses a design which will cater to them. Their lives will be easy because their bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms will be designed in a way that is easy for them to use. Destination retirement communities will change the definition of retirement. Because of the many luxuries they offer, they are an excellent choice for baby boomers who want to leave their homes.

Recent polls that have been taken indicate that over 60% of baby boomers said they were interested in moving into a retirement community, while over 50% said that they would like to move to a warmer climate. A large percentage also indicate that they plan to purchase a retirement home. Despite this, most of the people who took these polls also indicated that they won't to stay close to their family members. The biggest goal of many baby boomers is to pursue interests that they never had time to pursue while they were younger. Over 60% of baby boomers said they would like to travel, while others want to spend time exercising.

But many baby boomers also admit that they would like to learn new skills or perform volunteer work. As the list of these people continues to grow, they will be looking for places which can suit their needs and interests. Destination retirement communities can allow seniors to enjoy life and pursue the many hobbies and tasks that they are interested in. Many of these people have worked long and hard for their entire lives, and will want to enjoy the things that they have obtained. Most retiring baby boomers will have large amounts of wealth, and will be looking for a large number of ways to enjoy it.

Adding other items to your scrapbook

Scrapbooks are not meant just for photos. I tend to often date myself. When I was in elementary school, I had a scrapbook. Of course back then I used paper that is now yellow and I used glue. However, what’s important is I remember the contents of that scrapbook.

I kept movie ticket stubs, concert ticket stubs, love letters from boys I like, a test with an A+ on it and many other items.

Today, we can still preserve those memories by adding these extras to our scrapbooks. I always recommend making copies of everything. Unless the original paper is acid free, it will yellow and crumble with time. So, do include the original in your scrapbook, but also keep a copy.

So, what types of “extras” are fun to put into scrapbooks?

• Report Cards

• Essays from School

• Birthday Invitations

• Maps of Cities Visited

• College Brochures

• Greeting Cards

• Post Cards

• Decorative Napkins

• Place Cards from Table Settings

• Pressed Flowers

• Receipts from a Favorite Restaurant

• Play and Concert Programs

• Sporting Event Tickets and Programs

• Magazine and Newspaper Articles

• Old Drivers Licenses

• CD Covers

These items can be added to individual pages or they can be left in tact and put into a sheet protector alongside photos of the events they represent.

There is no limit to the items you can put into your scrapbook. Extra items can help tell the overall story.

Subaru performance transmission upgrades

There is probably a transmission shop in almost every town in the country that can build a bulletproof transmission for American made vehicles. Whether it is a late model Mustang or a 60’s Chevelle, there are lots of aftermarket components and many years of technology available for the transmission rebuilder to utilize.

The same cannot be said for the 4EAT automatic transmissions found in Subaru vehicles. In factory form, these transmissions demonstrate several problem areas that can cause failure in as little as 20,000 miles with a stock engine and even sooner in modified applications.

Poor shift quality, anemic factory components, and above all, improperly configured torque converters plague the automatic transmission equipped vehicle. This is in conjunction with the automatic’s propensity to burn out the high clutch pack (third gear) and the 2-4 clutches (second and fourth gear) with even moderate increases in engine output.

Realizing the need to take import and sport compact automatics to their fullest potential, IPT Performance Transmissions - a New Jersey based company, committed a large portion of their research time and dollars toward improving the Subaru automatic transmission.

First up on the hit parade of internal modifications is the need to address the issue of valve body calibration. The valve body mods are really the foundation of any performance trans rebuild. An automatic transmission utilizes a network of valves, servos, solenoids, orifices, accumulators and passages that control and route hydraulic pressure to the appropriate places to apply the clutches and bands.

Without going into elaborate detail which would fall outside the scope of this article, suffice it to say that modifying the valve body effectively changes the rate of clutch apply and also increases the clamping force with which these components have to work with. This is why shift kits and modified valve bodies produce that firm, performance type shift that increases the transmission's overall capacity for power handling.

Next, all critical support bushings need to be replaced to insure that the centerline of the transmission runs in perfect alignment with the centerline of the crankshaft. Ignoring this step puts a lot of undue stress on the internal transmission components.

Many of the other parts also such as the pinion shaft, the front differential ring gear and the planetary gearset undergo various metallurgical processes such as heat treating, Meta-Lax stress relieving, and cryogenic treatment (freezing them in liquid nitrogen at -300 degrees Fahrenheit to 'reset' the part's structure on the molecular level).

Lastly, all of the required seals and gaskets are changed to materials that are better able to cope with the heat and stress that is common in high powered applications. Performance clutches and steel reaction plates are installed and their clearances set to much more exacting specifications than those that are used by the factory. Most importantly, IPT utilizes a proprietary six disk high clutch pack and a five disk 2-4 clutch pack which increases the second, third, and fourth gear torque capacity by over 25% versus the factory set up - this is the key to getting a high powered vehicle make a 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 shift instead of just bouncing off the rev limiter.

As for the modifications outside of the gearbox, the next thing of importance is of course the torque converter. In an automatic equipped vehicle, one of the most important components in the entire car in regards to optimizing performance is a correctly configured converter.

In addition to being made with many strength improvements over the factory piece, a performance converter enables a vehicle to better take advantage of the RPM range at which maximum power is made. In simple terms, a properly designed converter will allow a vehicle to launch under more power by increasing the rpm at which the launch takes place. In essence, a torque converter is an infinitely variable transmission in and of itself, and altering its torque multiplying characteristics becomes absolutely necessary when other variables in the vehicle are changed (bigger turbos and bigger cams).

Even in otherwise stock turbocharged Subaru vehicles, ET reductions of over one full second are not at all uncommon with the addition of a properly configured converter.

Transmission, torque converter and valve body upgrades are not only for American made vehicles anymore. Increased performance, durability and more efficient shifting is now available for the vehicles of almost every manufacturer - thanks in part to the few companies that are willing to do the research and development work required for this rapidly growing segment of the automotive aftermarket.

Life insurance 7 myths about life insurance

There are a lot of myths and misconceptions when it comes to life insurance.

You need to know the truth when it comes to what you are purchasing, don’t just assume based on rumors you’ve heard. Mistakes made when buying life insurance have long-lasting consequences. If your family isn’t provided for as they need to be, you won’t be here to fix it.

You need to choose the life insurance that is right for you. You can do so by avoiding these seven common myths:

Myth #1: You should buy seven times your annual earnings.

The rule of thumb that says you should have so many times your annual income isn’t necessarily true. The average American has a policy three times his or her annual income. Your dependents should be able to withdraw 5% each year from your insurance policy money without having to touch the principal. If you are making $60,000 annually and you purchase three times your annual income, you have an $180,000 policy. This means your heirs will only be able to withdraw $9,000 each year.

Most people have less coverage than they need. To calculate the amount you actually need, estimate how much your heirs will need to maintain their lifestyle without you. Include the costs of child care, education and emergencies. Add up all other sources of income and subtract it from the expenses. This will show how much of a policy you need to have.

Myth #2: Agents don’t give you the best deals, the internet does.

The internet is a great place to shop and research life insurance. But don’t assume that you’ve gotten the lowest price just because it’s the internet. Good agents will find a competitive rate that’s comparable to your online quotes.

Often, the premiums posted on internet sites are misleading. They are usually quoting you are rate that only those in the healthiest of conditions receive. They may give you an initial rate that will increase significantly in a year.

You can’t just compare rates. You need to also compare the policy that you are receiving. Shop around on the internet and with various agents for the best policy for you.

Myth #3: All policies are the same, you are just charged more

You have to read your policy. It is a contract between you and an insurance company. It tells you what is payable and what isn’t. All policies have different features. Make sure that you have received what you were told you were getting. Make sure that all names are correctly spelled and all numbers are right. Your written policy is what matters, not your phone conversations or your agent’s promises.

Myth #4: You should always name your estate beneficiary

If you do, the proceeds will go through probate. This means that your policy proceeds could be tied up for several months to over a year. Your heirs will not have access to the money during this time.

The proceeds will also increase the value of your estate, which means your family might have to pay estate taxes. If you have an estate over $1.5, you will pay taxes depending on your state. Estate taxes are often as high as 48%, so do everything you can to avoid them.

Myth #5: If you are in poor health, you are uninsurable

This simply isn’t true. There are a lot of companies out there that specialize in coverage to those who have or have recovered from a serious illness. The coverage is often expensive, but you can get it.

Being turned down once doesn’t mean it will happen again. Shop around, one company might charge you an added surcharge, while another will charge you a standard to preferred rate. It really depends on the company, not just your health status.

Myth #6: Insurance agents know what you need

Many life insurance agents are looking out for your best interests, others aren’t. That’s the way it is. Agents are compensated differently for selling different products; that often influences what they sell you.

If you need help, also ask your CPA what type and how much life insurance you should buy.

Myth #7: Life insurance is more important than disability coverage

Most people recognize life insurance as an important part of their financial planning. They often overlook the importance of disability insurance. You are 50% more likely to be disabled than you are to die when you are under the age of 50.

Most people will find that term life insurance best fits there needs and offers less expensive premiums. If you do, you also need to have disability insurance.

5 low effort high reward income streams that you can switch on today

Something truly dramatic has happened over the past couple of decades. The world has made a transition from the industrial age to the information age, and the income rules that used to apply a few decades ago have now been blown apart.

Possibly the biggest myth in personal wealth creation today is that you should focus on one thing for your income. We are all trained into believing that in order to be successful you need to train in a chosen profession. Then get a "good job" within that industry and slog your way up the corporate ladder. In other words we are all programmed to compete and succeed at the rat race by our parents, the school system and our peers. The simple truth however is that very few people gain either happiness or financial stability by using this cruel, tired old formula. And whichever way you look at it, the problem with the rat race is that even if you win, you're still just a rat.

If you wish to gain happiness and financial independence then you need to find new income sources and this insiders report will help you do just that. I am not advising that you rush to work tomorrow, throw hot coffee at your boss's face while quitting to start up new ventures – everything takes time. But you should certainly consider using a wide number of different methods to provide income streams for you. Do not fall into the trap of depending on one source of income for your livelihood. Look around and you will discover that there are hundreds of different and very feasible ways of making money. The key is to educate yourself and then take action.

So what are the five income streams that you can set-up immediately to earn a constant stream of income? We'll look at these one by one:

(1) Arbitrage – Do you know that the internet age has resulted in thousands of online bookmakers all competing for your money? Now if you are not a gambling man do not worry because arbitrage is an investment concept that can be used to derive a guaranteed 5% to 20%+ profit within a few hours with no possible chance of losing your original cash. How is this possible? Well online bookmakers often have huge differences in opinion on the same sporting events – this creates some incredible anomalies in the way that certain sporting events are priced between different bookmakers. This is great news for us because everyday these anomalies allow us to invest money on all sides of a sporting event so that no matter who wins/loses/draws we can walk away with a risk free and guaranteed profit. These arbitrage opportunities are present many hundreds of times each week and the beautiful part is that you can find them in as little as five minutes per day once you know how. This is one of the least known and used income sources around and one that you should certainly set-up and profit from.

(2) Recycling Cell Phones For Profits – Last year over 100 million cell phones were replaced. Only a tiny fraction of those were recycled. Many end up tossed away at the bottom of peoples attics, or are simply thrown away. Did you know that each old cell phone is worth up to $70 (although on average this is closer to the $20 mark)? Cell phones are a multi-billion dollar business and that trend is growing on a global level – governments are beginning to offer incentives for those who are willing to recycle their phones and recycling companies are now setting up and offering a decent level of cash per phone that they receive. As an individual there are some very powerful ways of collecting hundreds of phones per week and selling these on for some monster profits. The start up costs are practically zero and this is a business you can operate from home.

(3) Importing Goods From India And China – If you want a very solid, profitable and enjoyable work-from-home business then this is it. Some of the most popular goods cost a fraction of the cost that they are available for in UK/USA/Europe – for example I regularly have access to top quality items from India that cost me 95% less per item than in the UK. One of the best things about importing for profits is that once you setup a product and find a supplier, you have secured an income stream that lasts, often, for years into the future. There are literally MILLIONS of products that can be imported profitably into your home country – finding suppliers is not very difficult and you can boost your income further by selling them on auction sites such as ebay. There are also other benefits when you operate an import/export business from home – you can write off travel expenses against profits and the set-up costs are actually very low. Get involved today.

(4) Reselling Works In The Public Domain – Have you heard of the public domain? Maybe. Did you know that there are literally millions of books, videos, plays, courses, music and more that exist within the public domain that you can legally take, brand as your own and sell to keep 100% of the profits? Did you know that there are online sites that actually GIVE you text documents of public domain works – you just download the document and you're ready to repackage it into your own product. Not a lot of people know that Walt Disney created the Disney empire out of a story that he found on the public domain – it is simply a treasure trove of cash waiting to be discovered.

(5) Ebay – I know it is hardly "unknown" but it really had to be mentioned - If you have not ventured into this incredible opportunity, you really ought to. Receiving over 1.5 billion page views a month and 9000 new customers everyday, ebay is a seller's dream. No matter what you wish to sell, there is a buyer waiting for you on ebay. There are powersellers who are making $100,000 and more per year with ebay – and if they can do it the simple fact is so can you. Simple, addictive and fun you should setup your ebay income stream today.

So there you have it – five instant income streams that you can setup today to earn an immediate online income with little or no capital. Now that you know about them the next (and most important) step is to actually start (something that sadly 95% of the readers statistically will not do). Remember, that once you set-up a new income stream it will derive cash for you years (if not decades) into the future. Don't be lazy – get started today!

The risks of running a business yourself

Running your own business can be a challenge, but it can also be frustrating. If you don't have experience in running a business yourself, you may find yourself with more problems than you can handle, especially if you choose an area in which you are not familiar. Because of the risks of running a business, it's important that you make sure you develop as much knowledge as possible before you venture into the world of the unknown.

Running a business yourself has both risks and bonuses, with one of the greatest risks being the fact that you are now in charge of your own destiny. There is no employer to provide a paycheck or benefits; it's all up to you. That means that you must make certain that you bring in enough work to take care of your financial needs, something that can create a great deal of stress, especially if you are the only wage earner. Some fields are routinely busier than others, and thus not as volatile to downturns in the economy. Unless you are in one of those field, or are a professional such as an accountant or a lawyer, you want to be sure that you have some cash set aside before you give up your full-time job to start a business of your own.

Another risk of owning a business is that of losing your personal possessions, especially your home, over business debts. It's important, even if you are operating a home-based business, to make sure that you protect your personal assets from business seizure by incorporating. If your business is rather small, it may not be of much importance, but if you're running a rather substantial business, especially one that involves the purchase or any kind of products and supplies on a credit plan, make sure that you pay for the extra protecting your personal assets from seizures. You must follow the laws in your individual states because not all states have the same regulations. However, if your state is one of those that only allows business creditors to touch property that is assigned to the business, you definitely want to consider that as an option.

Loss of income due to illness is another risk involved in owning your own business. You are no longer protected by the employer's sick time and short time disability, so you have to assume those risks on your own either by setting money aside in case the need arises or investing in insurance to protect you from those kinds of things. The same holds true for health insurance—having a business means that you are responsible for all of the costs of your health and illnesses. It also means that unless you have others working for you that if you aren't able to work, there will be no money coming into the household from the business.

Pickup trucks how to transport cargo safely

Most people who buy pickup trucks are interested in the ability to haul cargo easily. Many are farmers, construction workers, movers, or otherwise. But how many times have you been speeding down the highway or interstate only to come up on a pickup truck and realize that the driver has not properly secured the cargo he or she is carrying? Unsecured cargo has been the cause of many fatality and non-fatality accidents, and these accidents were completely preventable.

What is the best way to secure cargo in the bed of a pickup? Here are some tips.

Use a cargo net. For only $60, Isuzu sells a Bed Web Net made of a tough elastic material and designed to stretch. The mount hardware is included and installation is easy. The net keeps cargo from flying out or sliding out of the back even during hard stops or fast turns.

Buy a bed extender. Designed for the Isuzu i-370, the Bed Extender, made of steel, retails for well under $300 and gives pickup owners additional truck bed length. This particular bed extender has the ability to swing in to provide a contained cargo area as well.

Bed Covers work well too. Many pickup models also can be accessorized with bed covers that not only keep cargo inside, but help to hide it and prevent theft as well.

Cargo Sports Bags are another option. These are often used in SUVs as well and do an excellent job of keeping smaller items from rolling around or flying out of pickup truck cargo beds.

Use a safety flag or light. Laws differ by state, but many require a red cargo flag or safety light be used when transporting cargo that extends beyond the cargo bed of a pickup. For example, in the state of California, when the load on any vehicle extends at least four feet from the rear of the pickup's body, the driver must use a fluorescent orange flag, or solid red flag at least twelve inches by twelve inches at the extreme end of the load. In addition, if the vehicle is operating after dusk, there must also be two lighted red lights at the end of the load visible at minimum of 500 feet to the side and the rear of the vehicle for safety.

It's also important to keep in mind that using these precautions, as well as others will protect the cargo itself. When hauling cargo, it's important to drive more cautiously than normal and make slow, steady turns. The added weight of your load can make turning more difficult and brakes may not respond as quickly or efficiently as when driving without cargo.

Every pickup truck has cargo weight guidelines. It's extremely important to obey these guidelines. While it might not be simple to actually weigh the load you plan to haul, it is better to err on the side of caution if estimating. Hauling additional weight beyond the manufacturer's guideline can significantly increase your chance of an accident or damage to your vehicle. There is also a chance you could be ticketed by law enforcement for hauling a load heavier than your pickup is designed to carry.

Solve your debt problems

Although it would be wonderful if debt would magically disappear, the only way to get rid of it is to pay it off. Almost everyone has some sort of debt.

Although getting rid of debt is not as simple as accumulating it, there is a way you can put a stop to the downward spiral. There is a three step plan that can eliminate financial problems for everyone. The three steps to solving your debt problems include: inventory, prioritize, and rollover.

Take Inventory of All Debts Owed - Make a list of all credit cards, personal loans, student loans, car loans, etc. Next to each line item, list the interest rate and minimum payment required. After you have come up with all creditors, rewrite your loans in a different order. This time, line them up starting with the highest interest rate loan and ending with the lowest interest rate.

Prioritize Your Debts - The next step, is fairly simple because most of the work is already done for you. Each month pay only the minimum payment on every single loan except for the loan at the top of the list. The loan at the top has the highest interest rate, and therefore, is costing you the most unnecessary money. Every time you get any extra cash in the month you put it towards this loan and this loan only. You will find that this loan will quickly diminish until it has disappeared.

The Rollover Strategy - Rollover is the next and final step to the debt elimination system. Once the first loan on your list is paid off, simply rollover ALL the money you used to pay for that loan and roll it over to the next item on your list. This should be the loan with the 2nd highest interest rate. Each time you pay off a loan you add more money into your payment pot. This makes the next loan all that much quicker to eliminate. It becomes a snowball rolling down the hill, picking up more snow and more positive momentum.

If you are in a situation where you need help solving your debt troubles, this system does work. The best thing you can do for your financial future is to take the bull by it’s horns and proactively work on solving your debt problems.

Online shopping carts keeping customers happy

:
Online shopping carts, those wonderful little programs that every successful website that sells something needs. However, if the program is insufficient then it may result in decrease in a website’s productivity. Customers want to deal with programs that are easy and time saving. This most certainly includes online shopping carts.

When a customer goes shopping they want to have a shopping cart that is easily accessible. When a customer views a product the option to buy it is right there no turning the page. It is extremely easy. Also the ability to view what is in the shopping cart at any given time is always a plus with customers. A program that can give them an estimated total that includes shipping helps them gauge how much more to spend on a website. Easy access into the online shopping cart program will make a customer happy and to make a customer happy means more money for the business.

Another more innovative addition to the online shopping cart programs is the one click purchase option. With this a customer can just click on an item and it is purchased and on it’s. way to their doorstep. Making their lives so much easier.

Don’t forget to add in the last minute marketing pitch. Just before a customer is ready to check out be sure to advertise other products. The most effective way to do this is to say something to the effect of “other customers who purchased this product also purchased…” Having a list of other products by the customer’s newly chosen product may help them with that last minute impulse buy. Much like the last minute impulse buys at check out lines that include candy or magazines.

To keep customers happy there should be a way that they can correct any mistakes that they had made in their online shopping cart. Even after they have placed an order there should be a way that they can easily correct their mistakes to update the order. This can include adding an item, removing an item or changing their shipping option.

Not all items purchased go directly to the customer placing the order. Many times online shoppers prefer to do their last minute gift shopping online and may also find it easier to order a present for a loved family member vi an online website. Having an option in the online shopping cart that allows for an order to be sent to another person with out the customer having to change their home address on the website. To even take it a step further some successful online shopping cart programs offer to keep a database of people a customer has shipped to in the past. This way when they need to ship to them again it is as easy as a click of the mouse.

The key to having a satisfying online shopping cart program is to keep the customer in mind. As always if the customer is happy then the business will be happy.

Where to go for parenting advice

Raising children is a confusing business. There are times when any parent or caregiver can use additional parenting advice. There are many books available to parents to help get through the day-to-day issues.

Every child is different, and every parent is different, too. Because of this, there are no cookie-cutter solutions that will work for everyone. The best suggestion is for you to review all the solutions you discover and take a few quiet minutes to think about them. Modify the suggestions to best suit your family, and don't be afraid to try out more than one until you discover the best answer.

Here are some tips:

1) Tell your children that you love them. Don't just show it by buying them things. Verbalize it and show them by hugging them.

2) Be involved in your children's lives - go to their concerts, games, and plays. This should be your highest priority.

3) Involve your children in family decisions.

4) Do not ever say "Because I said so" or "Because I am the parent". Instead always rationally explain your reasons for making a decision. Not only will children then understand and comply easier, but it will help them to develop their own reasoning skills.

5) Actively participate with your children in activities outside of the home.

Do not hesitate to share the ups and downs of parenting with another parent. You may be surprised to find that they are experiencing some of the same joys and frustrations as you.

One popular mistake parents make is asking instead of telling. The way you phrase your words determines whether your children see your request as optional or required. Take away all wishy-washy phrases from your vocabulary. When you want your child to do something or stop doing something, make a clear and specific statement that leaves no room for confusion.

Many parents start out on the right track, but are derailed by an incredibly persistent child. It seems that when children couple their youthful energy with an extraordinary ability to pinpoint their parent's weak spots, the result is usually disaster.

If you are doing your job as a parent, there are many times when your decisions will not be popular with your kids. When your child is nagging, whining and pleading with you, it is a sure sign that you have made the right decision. It is also a sign that you need to disengage from your youngster and teach him you will not be easily swayed by his persistence.

Your most important goal as a parent is not to make your children happy on a short-term basis. It is to raise capable and responsible human beings. There are many times when your children will be unhappy with your decisions.

Today there are more parents than any other generation of parents in history. There is an incredible amount of information and knowledge about parenting advice you can get from friends, books, and the internet. Take advantage of this information. Read and take note. And be confident in your actions.

Risk-free car shipping with your car transport company

Parting with something valuable or dear is not the easiest thing for anyone, and if that thing happens to be your newly purchased dream car, that anxiety can be all the more intolerable.

To make matters worse, if you happen to be relocating, or you bought your car in some other state other than yours, you would actually have to entrust some stranger or some service to transport your car back to you.

To reunite with your beloved car, you must make sure to use the services of a fully licensed and insured car transport company that specializes in transporting cars. Doing thorough research on the various car transporter companies and car transport service before deciding on one will minimize the risk of any damage or mishap to your car:

* Just like any other industry, the auto transport industry is marked by myriad prices and multiple car transport options. Your first task involves choosing the right kind of auto transport. Depending on the value of your car, and how badly you want to lessen the risk of damage, you have the option of an enclosed, open or fabric covered auto transporter to ship your car. The covered trailer type carriers are definitely the safest and costliest options. If you have a tight budget, you can consider transporting your car on the multi-layer carriers used by car dealers. As your car will be just one of many cars of their total cargo, they will charge you less, but your car will still remain protected during shipping nonetheless.

* You also need to decide whether to go with a car transport company or with a car transport broker. A car transport broker typically does not have his own trailer while an auto transport company does. The broker has to make arrangements with the bigger car transport services to transport your car on their trucks. Brokers typically ask for an initial deposit, while the rest of the car transport payment is made, upon safe delivery of your car, to the car transport service that actually shipped your car.

* Insurance is a must if you are considering transporting your car over a long distance. Generally your own auto insurance company covers the car, but sometimes the car transport companies offer a package in which the insurance costs are included. In any case, be clear of what is covered by insurance and what is not.

* It is safest to deal with an auto transport company that does offer a satellite tracking service. Most major transport companies offer this service for free. Keeping a constant tab on the route and the move helps keep you informed every step of the way during the car shipping, and reassured that your car will arrive home safely.

General information regarding self certification mortgages and remortgages in the uk

Self certification mortgages and self certification remortgages are useful financing options for those individuals looking to buy a new home or obtain a new mortgage in the UK. Those individuals who will find a mortgage of this type most useful are those who are gainfully employed yet may have a difficult time showing where the money comes from and how much money they receive on an annual basis. Examples of individuals who may experience this problem include those who are self-employed, contract workers or freelance workers. Obtaining a self certification mortgage or self certification remortgage is a way for these individuals to obtain financing on their home and not have to go through the hassle of persuading hesitant lenders to give them a loan.

Defining Self Certification Mortgages and Remortgages

A self certification mortgage UK is one which is given to an individual that is not able to prove that they are steadily employed. Although some individuals have a 9 to 5 job, 5 days per week with the same company, there are a large amount of people who work for various companies and perform various tasks which produce different amounts of revenue. For these individuals, showing a set income with one particular company is quite difficult and can be met with some resistance at regular mortgage companies who offer straightforward mortgages. A self certification mortgage or self certification remortgage gives the self-employed individuals peace of mind by helping them to obtain a mortgage or remortgage without all of the hassle attached.

Ways to Find Self Certification Mortgage Lenders

When looking to find a self certification mortgage or a self certification remortgage, an individual will need to obtain a lender who deals with mortgages of this type. There are a few ways in which to obtain a self certification mortgage lender. One way in which to peruse one’s self certification options is via the Internet. One can search online to see if any self certification mortgage lenders are based in their area of the UK.

Another way to locate a self certification mortgage lender for a self certification mortgage or remortgage is by way of recommendations. One may have friends or family members in the UK who have obtained a mortgage of this type in the past. By obtaining recommendations, one will not only be able to find a lender but may also learn about good or bad attributes of the lender as well.

Conclusion

Self certification mortgages and self certification remortgages are extremely useful lending options for those self-employed individuals or independent contract workers. This provides a way for the individual to obtain home financing and not have to go through all of the problems they would experience with a regular mortgage lender regarding employment.

Dating single female and 30 something

:
In life I think it's fair to say that women drew the short straw enduring monthly periods, PMT, giving birth and the menopause; all producing more hormones than she, and anyone within arms length distance, can cope with.

But if she is 30 something and single the joy of being a woman doesn't stop there! She is in a race against time to meet a man (preferably sexy!), fall in love, get him to fall in love her, move in together, get married, have a baby (the latter two in no particular order as long as they happen!) and live happily ever after.

The reality though is that many women diarise "settling down" for their early 30s; devoting their 20s to getting a career, travelling, socialising and having fun. There are also the ones who, despite actively dating in search of their perfect partner since early adulthood, simply haven’t found “the one”.

After revelling in her 20s footloose and fancy free, from the day she hits 30 her carefree attitude screeches to an abrupt halt; Mother Nature is suddenly occupying all her thoughts and her biological clock is ticking getting faster and louder as each day, month and year passes still with no sign of “the one” entering her life.

Of course, for the 30 something single men of the world this is not a concern; nature gave them the choice to put fatherhood on hold, worry free, until their 40s, 50s even 60s. So is this why 30 something women find a gap in the dating scene and are unable to find someone of a similar age to settle down with? Are the 30 something men busy dating but staying single until later in life because they know that when the time is right (for them) reproducing won’t be a problem?

It’s a sad fact that society portrays 30 something single men and women completely different. 30 something single women are labelled “out of date goods left on the shelves” whereas 30 something single men are given a pat on the back and told to enjoy their freedom while they can. Although TV programmes like Sex in the City and Desperate Housewives have helped to change peoples opinions of single women over 30, the fact remains that if she wants children the natural way (i. e. without a sperm donor) she needs a man.

So with no sight of a man on the horizon, she feels under pressure not only from herself but also from those around her to get on the dating scene and meet the father-to-be of her children. Her parents will say, “Why can’t she meet a good man and settle down?" her friends will say, "Shall we fix her up on a date with [John]?" and then there are the sniggering colleagues who will say, "She must be a lesbian!"

Whilst some of them may have her best interests at heart, she should not feel forced into a relationship to please everyone else. The problem she faces however is that, as a woman of the world, she knows exactly what qualities she is looking for in her partner and her standards are set so high that the men she dates often don’t make the grade.

What she may have to do therefore is accept that not everyone is perfect and compromise on her “tick list”. She needs to put things in perspective and ask herself if it really matters that he doesn’t own a flash car or that he wears awful shoes. (It can sometimes be non-important things why women will reject a man.) She should also be careful not to discuss marriage and babies in the early dating stages; men are aware that a women in her 30s is looking for someone to father her children and if she comes across desperate, she will have most men running for the hills!

Ok, so she knows what she wants and she’s willing to compromise but where will a 30 something single woman meet the love of her life? Is it at work, through friends, in a bar/club, at a party or an online dating agency?

Whilst it is recommended to explore all methods of dating in order to increase your opportunities, not all of them will appeal to everyone. Take a 35 year old friend of mine for instance whom recently became single. It's not that she didn't want to settle down in her 20s, she just didn't meet the right man. She has, however, reached the conclusion that the likelihood of meeting someone in a bar or club who is potential “marriage material” is highly unlikely.

Whilst the majority of the 30 something single men she meets are happy to flirt, probably even happier to take her to bed, they do not want to commit to a relationship and jeopardise their freedom. Other rejects consist of men already in relationships looking for no strings fun or toy boys looking to put an older woman notch on their bedpost.

Only recently she dated someone whom she met in a bar who told her he was 27 years old (still younger than her but an acceptable age she thought). If I say that they became intimate very quickly, you’ll know what I mean! Whilst this was not something she would normally do, she felt a connection and it had been a while so she thought “Hell, why not!” Afterwards, she felt it only right to tell him her age. "You do know how old I am don't you?" she asked. "About 26/27?” he replied." (He certainly knew where his bread was buttered!), "No, I'm 35". "Well I suppose it's only fair I'm honest with you too ", he continued, "I'm actually only 19". "19!" she exclaimed. Immediately there was no future in this relationship and her hopes of finding “the one” had once again been dashed.

Turn the tables round (him 35, her 19) and it could have been a different story…. but that's for another day.

If you are experiencing similar problems finding a partner, why not give online dating a try? You will find men and women of all ages whose profiles will provide details of their age and whether they are looking for fun, love or marriage so you know from the start if you both have the same goals.

Upcoming auto show benefit to consumers and car dealers alike

The 2008 Arizona International Auto Show is one of the most anticipated auto shows for car enthusiasts, but it's also a big gold star on the calendars of car dealers all over Arizona. Held November 22 – 25, over Thanksgiving weekend at the Phoenix Convention Center on North Third Street, thousands are expected to turn out to get a glimpse of what's brand new for 2008.

The show gives folks the opportunity to check out all kinds of new vehicles – 400 to be exact -- pickups , cars, cross-overs, and SUVs all under one roof. Scheduled to make an appearance are several exciting new models like the 2008 Isuzu i-370 Extended Cab pickup, the Hummer H3 Alpha, and the Audi R8 in addition to the latest concept cars by various makers.

Dealers from Chevrolet as well as Ford will be there offering ride and drives of the Chevy Malibu and several Ford models.

Sunday, November 25 is "Family Day." Kids under 12 years are free with a paid, accompanying adult. When you go, be sure to visit the South Building of the Convention Center where reliable favorites like Honda, GM, Isuzu, and Kia will be showing off their brand new models, as well as the West Building where you can check out Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Volvo.

Auto shows are important to dealers because of the enthusiasm they generate for new cars. Even people who wouldn't necessarily be ready to trade in their older models see a new model, fall in love with it, and the decision process begins. Even dealers who are not onsite offering drives at the auto show will experience an influx of potential new customers in the weeks following. Car shows are designed to be exciting. They bring car enthusiasts together in a social environment and allow them to reflect on all kinds of information about the cars that searching the internet would take hours to do. In the weeks after a car show, people begin to really think about the cars they've seen and decide they'd like to test drive the ones they were most interested in.

The Arizona International Auto show is sponsored by Motor Trend Auto Shows (the nation's largest new-model auto show producer) and will travel to 23 different convention centers this year, from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Secaucus, New Jersey and more.

Arizona car dealers aren't the only ones who will benefit from exposure at the show. Even if you're not in the market for a new car, at only $9.00 for adult admission, it's an affordable outing for the whole family on a weekend when you often find yourself trying to figure out how to entertain relatives. Attendees will learn more about automotive trends in general, but also about automotive safety features available or soon-to-be available.

The show happens in Arizona every two years, so don't miss it this time around. We know football and overeating are a big part of the holiday weekend, but there's always time for an auto show, right?

Reason for speed reading

In the last few weeks I have been talking about how beneficial it can be to learn speed reading, that in this world a faster reader will have more time to put into his work and studies and that fast readers have an advantage because they can cover a lot of informational reading material while others struggle to read a sentence here and there.

While I strongly believe that speed reading is the key to most of the professional needs of any industry today, the real question for the individual who is seeking a faster reading rhythm is why. Why would someone want to increase his or hers reading speed and for what purpose, it is not clear that everyone needs to read fast or faster than what they used to, it all depends on what kind of work you do, and what you feel about your reading abilities.

I am surprised at some of the people who want to learn speed reading and their motivation for doing so, some of them just want to get better, while this is a noble idea the question still reminds, do you need to read faster, how fast do you read today, in fact it is not difficult to time yourself a couple of times and see exactly how fast you are going, if you feel that you are way below the average its still not a good enough reason to go to a speed reading course.

Reading is great, it is one of the most, if not THE most, amazing achievements of humanity, we can read the thoughts of people who are long gone, that if it was not put into books we would have never had the chance to access their most deepest and intimate thoughts and ideas. Reading is also great because it fuels the imaginations, and sparks emotions in many readers, inspiring them to make real changes in their lives.

When you speed read you are reading for efficiency, for work or for a selected task, and this is why I don’t think it’s a good idea to speed read everything that you see. So with that in mind think this over, if you feel that your reading skills are low and that you are really suffering from a low reading rate, you should first try and research the basics of speed reading, do that over the internet in a site like speedreading. zupatips. com/, there are many sources for this, you can also try and do this by yourself, timing your reading as you go, finding your average and completing questions to find out your reading comprehension skills.

If you are a student of any sort, just started a new work that demands you read a lot and learn new ideas and concepts rapidly, or have a particular task that requires you to read a large number of books in a limited frame of time, you should defiantly try and find out what does a speed reading course or book, give you, and try to research as many web sites to offer help and tips regarding speed reading.

History of golf

For generations, the favorite type of recreation in my family has been golf. I remember being a small child and trailing my great-grandfather, my grandfather and my own father around the golf course near my mother's place of work. Come to think of it, my only memory of my great grandfather is that of him with a golf club in his hands. Actually, the same goes for my grandfather as well. I remember that as a young boy, the first time I ever received applause in the classroom was when I talked about the history of golf. I guess everyone was surprised to see an eight year old knowing so much about an adult's game. Actually, I can still remember it vividly now.

The Chinese, French, Dutch and Scottish all have solid claims to the origin of golf. As early as the year 1297, on February 26 of that year to be exact, golf was already mentioned in Holland in a city known as Loenen aan de Vecht. In that place, the Dutch played the game with a stick and a leather ball. The person who hit the ball at a target several hundred meters away the most number of times won the game.

Generally, golf is considered to be an invention of the Scots and the game was also mentioned sometime in the 15th century, particularly as part of a listing of laws that prohibited the playing of the game, then known as "gowf." There is some belief among historical scholars that gowf may actually refer to shinty or hurling or even to modern field hockey. These scholars believe a game that consisted of putting a small ball in a hole in the ground using golf clubs had its origins in the Netherlands in the 17th century. The term golf is believed to have originated from the Germanic word for club.

Meanwhile, historians point out that the oldest playing golf course in the history of the world is located at Musselburgh. It was called the Old Links and evidence points to the fact that golf was played on this course way back in 1672 although some reporst say that Mary, Queen of Scots, actually played in that gold course as early as 1567.
