Finding the gift in every situation

When life places obstacles in our path, when things seem like they're breaking down and we grow weary of the struggle, it's a good time to step back and look for the gift. What gift, you say?

Every situation and experience in life holds a gift, lesson or blessing for us. Yes, even the really painful experiences, like the loss of a loved one, an automobile accident, or natural disaster. There is a gift there, if we look for it.

To find the gift, we simply have to ask ourselves, "What positive lesson can I learn from this? How can this situation benefit me? What wisdom can I gain from this experience? What makes this situation worthwhile to experience in my life?" We can learn from anything in our lives, from a snag in our pantyhose to a migraine headache. We can learn from our disappointments, our heartaches, and our joy.

We can do this with any situation too, not just negative ones. Where is the gift in a boring Sunday afternoon, a crying infant or a gray, rainy wedding day? All we need to do is choose to see the positive side of the situation. The gift of a boring Sunday afternoon might be expressing gratitude for having some free time to express our creativity or enjoy a good book. A crying infant can teach us patience, compassion and nuturing. A rainy wedding day can help us understand what really matters, the celebration of love and meaningful connections with our friends and family.

Of course, when truly wonderful things happen to us, we don't need to really look for the gift then, do we? We already know what it is. During the happier moments of our lives, we can further honor this positive energy by expressing our deepest gratitude and joy. Rather than just feeling glad about our good fortune, we can purposely focus our thoughts on massive amounts of joy and gratitude, and consciously immerse ourselves in happiness. We can shout our thanks to the heavens and affirm that we welcome even more blessings in our lives.

Choosing to focus on the positive side doesn't mean living our lives in denial. It doesn't mean refusing to acknowledge the negative or mundane aspects of our lives. It means we see them, we accept them, and then we look beyond them rather than getting mired in negative thoughts and letting them affect the rest of our day.

Looking for the gift means choosing to lift our thoughts higher than our struggles. It removes us from our victim status and empowers us. No matter what happens in our lives, we have the ability to choose our attitude and our mindset. We can choose to focus on happiness, joy, love and gratitude, or we can stay mired in unhappiness and struggle.

Focusing on the gifts and blessings in our lives won't make all of our problems vanish overnight, or at all. But it reduces their importance and helps them to fade into the background a bit. We create in our lives what we focus on the most. By choosing to focus on the positive, we attract more positive energy into our lives.

Stop for a moment and look at your surroundings right now. What gifts or lessons are available to you in your current circumstances? And will you choose to embrace them and fully benefit from them?

Foam - just what on earth is it

Just what on earth is foam? It is a question that has plagued mankind for centuries. Well, alright, maybe not. Nevertheless, foam has long been a mysterious material, yet useful in many ways, not least for insulation and packaging.

Put simply, foam is plastic that has been melted, had bubbles of gas forced into it, and then been left to re-form. This produces a cheap, soft, spongy material, which can then be sliced into specific shapes or simply minced up into pellets.

The kind of foam you’re probably familiar with is packing foam. Anytime you order something (or sometimes when you just buy it in a shop), it will come wrapped in a box surrounded by foam to protect it. This works because even relatively small amounts of foam are capable of taking the force of a large impact, preventing the object that is being protected from ever hitting a hard surface and being damaged.

Packing foam comes in many forms: sheets, pellets (‘packing peanuts’), blocks, and more. If you want some, the best thing to do is probably buy it from an office supplies store or, in larger quantities, direct from a supplier. If you have things delivered in packing foam often, then you might also consider re-using that foam – after all, while foam is disposable, there’s absolutely no reason not to use it more than once.

The other kind of foam that you might encounter at some point in your life is insulating foam. This foam might even be in your walls right now as you’re reading this article, without you even knowing it. The advantage of filling your walls with foam is that it can be easily squirted in through a relatively small hole, providing effective insulation without you having to do too much work on the wall. Like with packing, foam insulation is both cheap and effective, not to mention easy to use.

Lasik surgery - terms you should know

Here are some interesting LASIK eye surgery terminology and facts. If you are planning on having this type of surgery it is always good to familiarize yourself with it and the lingo.

Dr. Jose Barraquer from Colombia in 1970 was the first person to develop the Microkeratome, an instrument that could cut thin flaps in the cornea and alter its shape. He is ultimately the one who made this type of corrective eye surgery possible.

This type of surgery is very safe and painless. Patients experience very little pain and usually fully recover within 24 hours. Their vision is noticeably improved as soon as the surgical procedure is finished. Patients are awake during the procedure and do go temperately blind while their cornea is being worked on. This sometimes frightens patients but only lasts for a short period of time.

Here are some terms for your interest.

Laser-assisted In Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) is a form of refractive laser eye surgery. This type of procedure is performed by an Ophthalmologist and is designed to help correct vision.

Microkeratome - A Microkeratome is a precision surgical instrument with an oscillating blade designed for creating the corneal flap in LASIK or ALK surgery

Eye Surgery - Ophthalmic surgery or ocular surgery, a surgical procedure performed on the eye or its adnexa.

Adnexa - Appendages of an organ.

Refractive - The turning or bending of any wave, such as a light or sound wave, when it passes from one medium into another of different optical density. It is also the ability of the eye to bend light so that an image is focused on the retina, allowing the image to be sent to the brain for processing.

In Situ - In situ is a Latin phrase used in many different contexts and means 'in place'.

Keratomileusis - A procedure for the correction of the refraction of the cornea by removing a deep corneal lamella, freezing it, forming it to a new curvature, and then replacing it.

Ophthalmologist - A physician who specializes in ophthalmology.

Ophthalmology - Branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy, functions, pathology, and treatment of the eye.

Isn’t medical technology amazing? Just knowing that if you were born with bad eyes that you can go spend a few thousand dollars and transform your sub-par vision into perfect 20/20 should bring some ease to your life. To your heath and to your life – farewell!

The history of gold as money

Turning Gold Into Money

Gold is one of the most dynamic elements of the modern economy and some might find it funny that the oldest form of valuing physical commodities is still thriving today. The first gold coins were produced in 700 BC and since then the precious metal has been used as the primary exchange element. The fact that gold was scarce and highly valued made it the perfect means of exchange, regardless of what the exchanged items were. The history of gold turning into money spans over a period of 2600 years and the turning point in gold’s history is the year 1971.

How Did Gold Become Paper?

Throughout history, gold and silver coins went through a process of debauching. Such coins began to be created out of gold and other metals, thus making the values of the actual coinage fluctuate in time. The process of turning physical gold into money began when goldsmiths, who used to store gold for other society members for a fee, started to issue receipts for their storage. The receipts idea spread quickly as it was more convenient than carrying the actual metal with them, so people began to get accustomed to the idea of paper money. Goldsmiths gradually turned into bankers and the currency evolutionary process continued developing.

Why Did The Gold Window Close?

The 15th of August 1971 is the day when the “Gold window” was closed by the American president Richard Nixon. From that moment on, paper money could no longer be converted to gold, a fact that took the precious metal out of currency exchanges. In order to understand why the situation with gold in the economy reached this point, let’s travel back in time to the moment when bankers saw the opportunity of replacing metal with paper money. Since they had the power of issuing the receipts for gold, bankers thought of producing more receipts than the amount of gold they held. But, as you would expect, this practice also became popular and bankers soon started lending these receipts to the early governments and to the monarchs of the epoch.

New Acts And Regulations Concerning The Use Of Gold

England was the country where bankers created the first central bank. The main purpose of such a bank was to lend money to monarchs, but it also served as protection for those bankers who issued more money than they could redeem in gold. However, it became obvious that this practice had a negative impact on the country’s economy. This lead to the apparition of the “Peel’s Bank Act”, which stated that banks are not allowed to issue more paper money than the gold they actually had in reserves. Thus, the importance of gold as a decisive factor in the global economy remained high all throughout modern financial history.

What Do You Know About Modern Gold?

An interesting evolution of gold prices began in 1934, when gold was priced at $ 20. In the period until 1971, the gold price remained around $35. However, with the changes that occurred in the global economy, gold prices reached $300 and they remained above or very near this threshold. Various factors in the geopolitical world had their influences on the evolution of modern gold prices.

Can Gold be Controlled?

Do you ever think about gold when you are going to work or while shopping? Even though our modern society perceives gold more as a fashion item, nations still rely on the power of the precious metal in order to keep their economies balanced. We might not see gold in stores, while paying our taxes, or while taking credits from a bank, but it is an element profoundly involved in all these actions. It is fair to say that, throughout human history, we were often the ones being controlled by this precious metal, and not vice versa, as most people believe.

A mother s journey educating a gifted child

When the No Child Left Behind Act was signed into law on January 8, 2002, my son was halfway through the first grade. Little did I know that the NCLB, which sounded like a good idea at the time, would have a ripple effect that would rob my son of a decent education.

You see, my son is a gifted learner. I'm under no illusion that he's the next Albert Einstein, but his scholastic abilities definitely outpace those of his classmates. Like many gifted kids, his social maturity doesn't match his intellectual maturity, so he's had challenges in his relationships with other children. Nonetheless, during first and second grade, he already knew all of the curriculum. Unfortunately, there was no mechanism in place for him to get into an accelerated learning program. Instead, his class was split into two; the students who were proficient started and ended the school day a half hour earlier than those who needed remediation. The students who were remedial learners got their extra half hour after the "earlies" left for the day.

Being new to the public school system, I thought I simply needed to be patient. I believed that, once he was "officially" GATE-identified going into third grade, a new world would open up for him. Unfortunately, because of NCLB standards, the money for the extended school day ended and the after school GATE program was abolished. Teachers and administrators repeatedly told me that it was important that learners of all ability levels stay in the same classroom, and that the key to teaching GATE students was differentiated instruction.

My son's experience with differentiated instruction is that it really doesn't exist. The so-called enrichment programs for accelerated learners were always too little, too late. These programs were run by parent volunteers, and despite my asking about them repeatedly, my son never had the opportunity to participate in them.

It wasn't until my son entered fifth grade that I figured out that I had to more than advocate on behalf of my son; I needed to raise a stink. I became a member of the GATE Parent Advisory Committee and the School Site Council. I volunteered to lead some of those enrichment programs, and started a grassroots movement to keep parents of other accelerated learners informed and involved. I brought a math acceleration program to the school through sheer force of will.

Having sat on various committees, I've been privy to the bottom line that school administrators have to face because of NCLB. Virtually all of the school's resources must be utilized to bring students who score "Far Below Basic," "Below Basic" and "Basic" in annual proficiency tests into the "Proficient" category. It's a numbers game, but it's a game in which everyone loses.

Even though the teachers at my son's elementary school - though, with 1,200 students, it's more like a small town - have moved every student in those categories up as far as they're able to travel, district goals and funding mandate that the effort continues. So, for example, if there are four fifth graders with learning disabilities who have maxxed out at "Below Basic," the school must continue to expend an inordinate amount of resources in a vain effort to get two of the four to reach the "Basic" level of proficiency.

Unfortunately, the NCLB has no provision for meeting the needs of GATE identified students. Again, from sitting on the various committees, I have seen the numbers of students who score in the "Advanced" category dwindle as they drop down from "Advanced" to "Proficient."

In the laudable effort to ensure that the students at the lowest proficiency levels achieve their potential, our brightest students are being left behind. New studies have shown that, if accelerated learners aren't engaged and challenged in elementary school, their dropout rates in high school and college equal that of students who have less scholastic aptitude. As a mother, that makes me worry about my son's future. As an American, it makes me worry about the future of our country.

Starting an ebook online business in just 3 easy steps

Everybody knows that if you wanna make money online there are a few "simple" things that you have to do. I'm going to give you the steps you need to start your own online home business. Whether your a student (like me), a stay at home parent, teen, or anyone else who just want to make money from home.

First, you'll need a product that will sell and on the internet "Information is Everything". From money making ebooks and recipe books to dog training manuals, Almost everybody can write an ebook on something that they have either done before or don't mind researching. If you can't write, don't worry there are ebooks that you can purchase the resell rights to and sell just like your own.

Ebooks serve two main purposes; the first and most obvious is income. Most ebooks merchants have little or no overhead; Once you write it or purchase the master resell rights it's yours to sell over and over again and keep all the profits. That's why the majority of the people who really make money online sell some form of information.

The second purpose of ebooks is generating targeted traffic to your website. "Branding" puts your website links inside of ebooks that you sell so you can have your ebooks pulling in orders and traffic 24 hours a day.

Second, you need a web presence. Whether it's a website, newsletter, blog, or RSS feed it is essential that you have a medium to connect to your potential clients. It's better to have more than one ex:(website & newsletter) this allows you to follow-up with people who might not purchase the first time around; Also to connect with people who might prefer a choice. A good website and hosting package with a domain name should cost less than ten dollars a month.

To be looked at as the professional you are, a domain name ( yourname. com) is crucial. Those "free" websites aren't really free when you begin to count all the missed customers. Not to mention the banner ad or text link that they embed into your page, driving them a ton of free traffic.

An important, but often unused component of new online marketers is tracking your visitors. When setting up your new website it's important to add a tracking service of some kind. This is so once your new site begins to take off, you know exactly where your visitors are coming from.

You want to do this so you will know which ads are working and which aren't. Track all the way to the order page, this is so you know not only visitors but also orders. You can find free tracking services online, even some with with invisible counters.

And for my last step, you need to get the word out about your new site. There are a few little known secrets that I personally use to drive targeted traffic to my sites. One, submit your site to search engines and directories. This takes some time to get a large amounts of hits, but once they start there highly targeted based off the keywords that you choose. Search engine optimization or SEO prepares your site to rank high in the search engines results, giving you more visitors.

Second, is article submissions. Like I said earlier, online information is everything and this is true for advertising. A well-written article can be picked up and re-published thousands of times for free. How does this effect you? At the bottom of every article you write there is whats called a resource or bio box containing the author's info and websites. It's illegal to remove this box, therefore you get free advertising on potentially thousands of sites by people wanting to use your article in there ezine, newsletter, website, etc.

This is also a great seo tool also since search engines count and rank sites by how many other sites link to them. Also if your worried that you can't write articles either, you can find plenty of them free with rights to edit them and make your own. There called private label rights or plr articles. Be sure to rewrite them because search engines can tell unique

content and will not index you.

Buying bespoke mens shirts - the benefits and what to look for

Bespoke shirt tailoring is undergoing a surge of popularity in the UK as more men realise there are options beyond designer labels. Bespoke tailoring gives the opportunity to specify every aspect of how a shirt is cut, and allows the wearer to experience the feel and look of a perfectly fitted shirt. The following is a guide on what features you should expect from a quality bespoke made mens shirt.

Obviously, the main benefit of a bespoke shirt is that it fits the wearer perfectly; after all, the shirt has been made specifically for the wearer. Signs that a shirt is fitted well are:

* A bespoke mens shirt should not feel tight or appear baggy across the shoulders, chest, stomach, or seat. The cut of the shirt should follow the contours of the body, without being too close or restrictive a fit. A fabric allowance of about 6 inches on the chest body measurement, 5 inches on the stomach measurement, and 6 inches on the seat measurement should give good results with average body dimensions, although these allowances are variable depending on the wearer's build.

* The sleeves of the shirt should be long enough so that the cuffs do not move up the arm when the arms are raised above the head. Similarly, they should not be so long that when the arms are hanging by the side of the body, there is a significant excess of fabric on the sleeves near to the cuffs.

* The collar of the shirt should leave enough space to insert your thumb comfortably between the collar and the neck when buttoned, and should not feel tight or hang loose around the neck.

* The length of the shirt should be long enough so that the tails hang just below the seat when worn. This will ensure that the shirt does not become untucked during use.

* The cuffs of a bespoke mens shirt should be just too tight to slip over the hand when buttoned. It should be necessary to undo the cuffs when putting on the shirt.

Aside from the fit of the shirt, there are a number of other important features to keep an eye out for:

* Fabrics - A bespoke mens shirt should only ever be constructed from pure cotton fabric. Cotton affords the wearer far greater comfort than man made fibres, and give a classic Jermyn Street look and feel to a shirt. The count of the fabric should be as high as possible - the higher the count, the finer the fabric. Popular fabric weaves include poplin (a plain weave and the classic English shirting), twill (a heavier, diagonal weave), fils-a-fils (a tiny graph paper check that appears to be solid colour from a distance), and oxford (generally, the heaviest weave).

* Collars - The collar should be hand made, and can be either fused or unfused. A well fused collar will give a smooth look with no puckering, and should use cotton interfacing materials. Collars should have removable bones to keep the shape of the wings perfectly straight when inserted.

* Stitching - All stitching throughout the shirt should be single-needle stitching. This technique is more time-consuming than commercial methods, but gives strong seams that are significantly more pucker-resistant.

* Pattern matching - When using striped or patterned fabrics, pattern matching should occur wherever possible.

* Sleeve plackets - Where the sleeves meet the cuffs, traditional packets should be used. Highest quality shirts do not provide placket buttons as these are uneccessary in a well formed placket.

* Split yoke - To ensure a perfect fit across the shoulders, a split (4 piece) yoke should be used.

* Buttons - These should be cross-stitched onto the shirt by hand to ensure that they do not become loose over time.

* Tails - The tails of the shirt should be rounded and strengthened by a gusset.

Please visit curtisanddyer. co. uk for more information on mens shirts.

The truth about identity theft

The Federal Trade Commission reports that identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America. The term "identity theft" was not even coined until a few years ago. These days we seem to hear it every time we turn on the television or open a magazine. But what is the real truth about identity theft?

The United States Department of Justice offers this definition: "Identity theft and identity fraud are terms used to refer to all types of crime in which someone wrongfully obtains and uses another person's personal data in some way that involves fraud or deception, typically for economic gain."

So how real is this threat? Several of the world's largest banks and data collection agencies have suffered fraud affecting millions of people. The IRS has stated that their networks of personal and financial records are not well protected.

It appears that we are all at risk for identity theft, and there may not be anything we can do about it. In fact, many people who are at risk don't even realize it.

So what are some ways to stop identity theft? How do you know if you are putting yourself at risk of becoming a victim?

Take, for example, your driver's license or health insurance card. In many instances, the account or license number is the same as your Social Security number. Calling a pharmacy, doctor's office, or car insurance company will often lead to you being asked for your Social Security number as a means of identification.

Your personal checks often include your name, address, bank account number, and signature. They're often supplemented at the store's request with your phone number and driver's license number or Social Security number. An unscrupulous store clerk may easily gain access to all this information.

No matter what type of data you are providing, whether it's to your doctor's office, your pharmacy, your bank, stores you make purchases from, schools, or even the IRS, this information has a chance of being compromised. The internet has made spreading and selling the information not only easier, but more anonymous for the criminals. The volume of information in today's society makes identity theft an ever-present danger.

Recently, companies have begun adapting to the changing environment and recognizing the very real threat that identity theft poses. Those with large databases of personal and financial information are being required to better protect that data. The United States government has joined by prosecuting identity theft criminals. Credit card companies, banks, and insurance companies have begun to offer identity theft insurance.

Here are several places to search on the internet if you would like to learn more about identity theft and identity fraud, and what government programs have been implemented to help curb this financial threat.

Department of Justice: usdoj. gov/criminal/fraud/idtheft. html

Federal Trade Commission:

ftc. org

Identity Theft Resource Center:

idtheftcenter. org

Consult with your bank, your credit card companies, and your insurance company to see what steps they are taking to help prevent identity theft. Find out what coverage they can offer to protect you in case it happens to you. Make sure that you do business with companies which are supporting government legislation to curb identity theft and identity fraud.

The truth is that identity theft is out there. It's not just a scare tactic used by insurance companies to sell needless coverage to unsuspecting clients. The threat is very real, but with research and information, you can help lower your risk of becoming one of its victims.

Ucla basketball tickets - is a sleeping giant awakening

UCLA basketball tickets have long been special for many, many reasons. When you think of sports dynasties, you think of Lombardi’s Packers, Auerbach’s Celtics, the Yankees of several eras and the Montreal Canadiens. Wooden’s Bruins can stand up to every one of them and then some. Listing all of the legendary players of UCLA lore would be too numerous for this forum, but rest assured that an entire wing of the Hall of Fame could be filled with UCLA alumni.

However, in recent decades, the Bruins, compared to the almost unattainable standard history had set, was not achieving at their historic levels. They did break through for an NCAA title in 1995, but other than that, Westwood’s trophy case has not had any recent additions in recent times.

That could all be changing right before our eyes, as the 2007 Bruins are beginning to look like the great Bruin teams of old. They advanced all the way to the NCAA Final last year before losing a tough game to Florida, and so far this season, it looks as though they haven’t missed a beat. There are reasons for this resurgence, and we’ll examine a couple of them below.

Ben Howland

When Howland took over at UCLA in 2003, the Bruins had officially fallen on hard times. They had become one of those teams that always seemed to recruit well, but they were at best a hit-or-miss bubble team for the NCAA Tournament. UCLA basketball tickets were actually quite easy to find for most games, and the Bruin faithful were down in the dumps.

Howland came aboard and instilled several things that the program had been missing. The first element was discipline. Howland’s teams never give a game away, and that was a hallmark of his teams at Pittsburgh before he came to Westwood. He also put together a roster that actually played hard-nosed defense, which was not something UCLA had been known for in recent years. There were even whispers that UCLA was “soft,” and that was unacceptable for everyone involved with the program.

The Right Kind of Talent

Under Howland, the program stopped simply chasing all the five-star recruits it could gather and began to build a team that together would become a unit that covered all the moving parts a successful squad needs. They added scoring and athleticism, of course, but they also added defense, rebounding, guards that could dribble and distribute, and several role players who take care of all the “little” things that win games in the end but may not show up on the stat sheet.

What it All Means

What this all means is that with the talent, consistency and stability that once again exists at UCLA, the team will be able to sell its own tradition and history to recruits, and it’s beginning to look like every year should be one when UCLA should contend for the Final Four. The fans in Westwood wouldn’t expect anything less, and UCLA basketball tickets are once again nearly impossible to find.

Get poor quick with real estate

YOU can become RICH with REAL ESTATE!!! Live the life you want with REAL ESTATE! Come to my seminar on how to MAKE MONEY from REAL ESTATE!!! OMG! WTF! BBQ!

It seems that whenever you are interested in investing in real estate, you get inundated with large font, glaring colors and titles promising you the sun, moon and stars if you take their seminar (a bargain at $2999), buy their inspirational tapes (what a deal at $199.99), and/or purchase their motivational DVD and book combo (only $ 99.99? Practically giving them away!).

When the eager investor signs up, the "guru" delivers speeches and media that are long on fantasy and short on reality. These people prey on greed, pure and simple. They capture the attention of people who want to believe that the path to riches is not paved with long, hard work in the beginning.

It's certainly true that real estate investments can improve your finances and diversify your portfolio. It is also true that there are many people who are quietly well-to-do as a result of careful investing in real estate. The thing is, most of these people worked hard, gave up luxuries and invested wisely instead of falling for claims of easy money.

What these fake gurus will do is emphasize the life you "could" have and gloss over the work real estate investment takes. They describe themselves with as many adjectives as possible instead of actually giving you verifiable information as to their competence. They gloss over any problems common to real estate investment.

Fake gurus also don't want you to talk to real professionals, like REALTORS(R), because a good REALTOR(R) will lose no time informing you about the truth of your position in the real estate world and then guide you to sensible investments that are likely to give you a good return for the money and time you are willing to put in.

Not every person conducting a seminar on real estate investment is a shyster. Look for people who don't promise you the moon, who don't use flashy buzzwords instead of actual facts and who have verifiable references. Do they work in the real estate industry? Do they have references from that industry? What is the focus of the seminar? Someone who is willing to give you the facts on what could go wrong is much more valuable to you than someone who charges you a grand to tell you nothing about what you need to know.

There are people out there getting rich by holding seminars with an emphasis on motivational material instead of facts and strategies. They will throw a lot of buzzwords into their shop talk and intimate that you a) are a fool b) going to stay POOR for the rest of your life and/or c) are too ignorant to understand their 'vision'. If you show any sign of critical thinking, they will attempt to deflect your questions with more buzztalk and/or unverifiable claims.

Don't fall for these scam artists. Put your trust in an agent who will make your goals a priority and won't charge you for their knowledge.

Also included are learning how to use a Yin palm to take energy out and the Yang palm to put negative energy in to someone. Also the delayed death touch and other advanced striking methods are in the advanced curriculum as well as more advanced methods of energy transference including being able to strike a person almost anywhere and have the strike travel through the opponent’s body to an intended destination somewhere else inside them. Healing methods for many of the energetic strikes are included.

Skill tests include being able to hold three boards and break them all or only break any one or two together of the boards as chosen by the instructor and being able to break bricks and get different effects with the brick breaks. There are other skill tests as well such as being able to lightly hit through a very thick force shield pad and have the person who is holding the pad feel the hit as if the pad is not there. I have some police officers for students and have demonstrated this hit through a bullet proof vest.

I also have a method that is taught as part of our advanced Tai Chi curriculum that includes Internal Iron Body, Cotton Palm and high level Dim Mak including being able to hit anywhere on their body and have your blow go where you want it to as well as how to touch the opponent very lightly (or so it seems) and transmit a tremendous amount of damage to their spine and central nervous system.

How to achieve currency trading success part 2

Choosing a Trading Method

While there are many ways to achieve currency-trading success, all methods have the following salient points in common:

1. Simplicity

Most of the best trading systems are simple.

There is no correlation between how complicated a strategy is and how successful it will be.

In fact, the simpler a system the more likely it is to be robust in the face of changing market conditions.

Some of the most successful systems of all time have been extremely simple and you don’t need much mathematical knowledge to understand them.

2. Liquidate Losers Quickly and Run Big Profits:

The basis of any successful trading systems that deals in leveraged products is:

You need to be able to run the big profitable trends and exit losers quickly.

All good trading methods do this, and use strict money management rules, to ensure preservation of equity.

3. Understand your Method

This may sound obvious, but you need to understand your trading method, and the logic behind it, so you can execute it with confidence and discipline.

4. The Importance of Discipline

Currency trading success is rooted in a successful method applied with discipline. This means a trader has a method and follows it. This however is much harder in practice than many traders believe.

When money is on the line all traders emotions come into play and unless they can maintain discipline, currency-trading success will elude them.

Let's look at some ways to maintain self-control and discipline when making trading decisions:

Firstly, you must be confident in your trading method. You should know exactly what you are going to do:

· When a signal indicates that you should enter a trade

· When a signal tells you to exit

You must execute your trading method in a disciplined fashion; if you don’t, you won’t have a method in the first place!

Secondly, and perhaps the best way to maintain self-control and discipline, is to feel confident in your trading method from the start.

If you have confidence when you execute your trades, you will "know" that over time they will be successful - even if you are suffering a string of short-term losses.

You must execute the buy and sell signals with confidence - these signals will lead to currency trading success in the long run, as you rigidly adhere to your method.

You need to stick with your method through good and bad times, and confidence in the underlying logic, will help you remain disciplined.

The more disciplined you are in trading, the more profits you will make longer term.

You should not underestimate the need for discipline, if you want long-term currency trading success.

If you read Jack Shwager’s Market Wizards, and the New Market Wizards, where he interviews the top traders of all time, you will see how all of them place an influence on discipline.

Currency trading success relies on a number of factors and these are:

Robust trading method + discipline = currency trading success

Remember, when trading any method, it will be of little use to you, unless you have confidence in it and can execute it with discipline.

There are a number of variables involved in longer-term currency trading success and the above are the salient points to keep in mind when deciding how to trade currencies.

Podcasting -- let the experiments begin

:
As you know podcasting is simply an audio file that is placed on a website. If it is combined with an RSS file -- people can subscribe to your feed, and listen to your words of wisdom at their leisure. This is a good thing, it is getting your words -- your voice -- your identity to the masses.

Podcasting -- Getting Started
Publishing your podcast is simple as well -- look to Blogger, TypePad, and then use Feedburner to convert your podcast into a feed.

Simple Way to Make A Podcast
The simpliest way to get setup and to start experimenting with your own podcasting-- is to simply get a microphone and of course, free software from Audacity.

Okay, as we all know, not many are comfortable with hearing their own voice -- but hey, it's your voice -- and the voice allows your listeners to know that, yes, I am a real human, and not a machine.

Once done, you will need to upload your podcast onto your server. The only limitations I see would be how much, or little space, you have on your server-- as well as the bandwidth usage.

Submitting your Podcast to Feeds
To get your podcast out to the masses, you will need to hit the directories that cater to podcasting. Well, one of the quickest way to get this done, is through Feedburner. Just check the "Podcasting button" and you will be directed to a page with all the information you need. In fact, they have a site called "PingShot" that will automatically notify the directories and web-based aggregators when you publish new content -- I mention this one, because it is free. No sense, paying for something if you are in the experimental mode, right? But . . .

There is still a learning curve here, and you will need to take a little time to devour some of the info on the different sites to get the information you want, as well as, how to use it. But it looks like podcasting is now the in thing. Will it last? I think it may. But it looks like the next, new and great thing coming to the Internet is the Video Casts. The only thing I see that may keep some from partaking in this media is the bandwidth and storage. But we will see.

The power of articles

During this last year I have given a HUGE amount of thought to the subject of search engines. After a lot of thought, I have determined to distinguish a single factor that will increase my bottom line more than any other factor. Aren’t we all looking for new and interesting ways to get more free traffic from search engines? I am I can tell you that.

So I had to consider all different kinds of factors. I thought about my product selection. I considered my domain names. I considered my page content, and the overall look of my sites. I thought about my selection of keywords. I thought about on-page optimization. I couldn’t distinguish any of these as the single most important thing that I did this last year.

If there is one thing I did this last year that raised my rankings and increased my traffic, it was the development of one way links. Now I’m not talking about trading links with other sites. I’m talking about getting sites to link to mine WITHOUT linking to theirs. I think we’ve all noticed that search engines are giving a lot of credit for this, and I’ve noticed it ‘big time’.

So I figured out this last year that there are really easy ways to make this happen. At first, I heard about an article directory from a friend that would publish articles for free. I like writing articles, and have always written the content for my sites, but give away free website content? I decided to take one of my articles and have it published. Sure enough, the article directory let me add some information in a resource box that appeared at the bottom of my article, and I placed a link back to my site using the anchor text of one of my keyword phrases.

Sure enough, I had made a nice one way link to myself. I had no idea that this was only the beginning. I then started searching for more article directories where I could publish my article, and was able to find a list of about 100. I spent a day and submitted my article to all of them, and checked a few days later to find out which ones accepted it. Almost all of them did, and so I had created about 100 one way links back to my site.

It wasn’t until last week that a friend told me about articlesender. com. They are a service that will submit your article to a bunch of sites. They will even do it for free. I donated to tell about $20 and they submitted my article to around 200 article directories. Submitting my article to that many directories would have taken me about 2 days, so $20 to me is nothing.

I would pay a lot more than that to get a few hundred one way links to my site. Are you kidding me? I love it. Not to mention that I get to use whatever anchor text I want, and write whatever content I want for the page that it appears on.

My friends; harness the power of articles. Right now, one way linking is the way to the money.

Can teacher training help memphis schools

In the state of Tennessee Memphis Schools are lagging behind. With 80-81% of Tennessee’s 4th grade students performing on grade level in both math and reading, the children in Memphis Schools are well behind in the 63-66% range. Dropout rates also plague Tennessee’s largest district. 32.5% of students will drop out of Memphis Schools before graduating.

When the “No Child Left Behind Act” (NCLBA) was signed into law in 2002, every school in the nation became accountable for reaching a minimal level of competency. In 2004 the Tennessee Department of Education labeled 148 of Memphis Schools failures by those standards.

To address these concerns Memphis Schools have focused on math and literacy initiatives, adoptions of new textbooks, and better teacher training. In Memphis Schools, where 71% of students qualify for free or reduced lunches, the impact of teacher development in raising test scores is critical. How much influence teachers have on student achievement, and the quality of those professionals working in struggling schools, has been a topic of debate in Memphis Schools for years.

A recent $10 million federal grant with the Peabody Center for Education Policy may help clarify some of these issues. Memphis Schools could eventually benefit, or change course, depending on the finding of trials to be funded by the grant. The five-year grant will investigate the correlation between significantly increased teacher pay and student achievement. That means a difference of several thousand versus several hundred dollars per year.

How well do Memphis Schools pay their teachers? Well, that depends. When adjusted for cost of living Memphis Schools look pretty good. Scholastic’s Instructor Magazine recently put Memphis Schools in their Top 5 list for cities where teacher pay goes the furthest. The thing is, no one is really sure how important that is. What will it mean for Memphis Schools if the grant finds little correlation between teacher pay and student achievement? It could mean teachers just aren’t motivated by money. It might mean that home environment trumps schools environment. Or it could mean something else all together.

Meanwhile, Memphis Schools are trying to improve their standing by creating better community involvement and reassessing educational goals and outcomes. Ultimately, educators and administrator make daily decisions without full knowledge of areas like teachers incentives. Maybe more studies like this one will start to bridge the gap between what we think and what we know about education in Memphis Schools and in general.

Motor home ownership

Today's motor homes or recreational vehicles have all the comforts of home. If your wallet can afford it, they come with plasma TV's, washers and dryers, ceramic tile floors and granite countertops and with spaces that are professionally designed.

The best known type of motor home is the Type A, or recreational vehicle. This is the roomiest of all motor homes, the largest, and the most expensive. They come fully equipped with all the luxurious amenities as listed above, plus some. Some recreational vehicles come with custom stained glass and large garden/tub showers. Recreational Vehicles come up to 45 feet in length and generally range between $85,000 used and $400,000 new. Don't forget, they get somewhere between 5 and 8 miles per gallon. This is another consideration. If you can't swallow that type of gas mileage you may want to consider another form of motor home.

A Type B motor home category includes van campers and travel trailers. The van campers generally range from 18 feet to 22 feet in length and can comfortable sleep four. A fully contained van camper can have a shower, toilet, kitchen, TV, couches and beds. The beds are close together, affording less privacy than a travel trailer or recreational vehicle. Most only have enough head room to allow for full standing in the center of the vehicle. Much smaller than the Type A motor homes they have less storage area. The van campers range in price between $43,000 and $70,000.

Travel trailers come in sizes 16 feet to 38 feet. They range in price from $6,000. for a used trailer upwards to $45,000 for a new travel trailer. You can generally find a fairly wide range of amenities in travel trailers. The larger the size the more you can sleep and the more likely you will be to have a private bedroom area.

A lot of travelers like the fact that they can park their travel trailer in a trailer park and take their vehicle touring the area. It does however take lots of practice learning how to properly drive with a travel trailer hitched to the back of your SUV.

When you are considering the purchase of a new motor home there are some of the same considerations you have when purchasing a new car. Remember, a dealer can take advantage of an uneducated customer. Do your homework. Know how much you should be paying before you visit the dealership. Ask to see the MSRP (manufacturers suggested retail price) for the vehicle. Remember, dealers receive nice incentives from manufacturers so they have a 15% to 35% mark-up.

Don't take the first deal that you are offered. Visit two or three dealerships. Make sure that the dealership you buy your motor home from has good follow up service. A lot of dealers are your best friends while you're buying the motor home. Once they've sold you the motor home they don't want to be bothered. Check with the Better Business Bureau and family and friends who have motor homes.

Choosing a non-traditional venue for your wedding ceremony

There are many weddings that are held outside of traditional religious facilities, including out-of-doors, in large houses, courtrooms, and location weddings. These areas can offer a great, unique occasion that shows off a bit of your personality and style as well as giving your guests a fun time to remember.

Nothing is nicer than having an outdoor wedding, if the weather cooperates. This is never a guarantee, however, and people planning to have an outdoor wedding should have a backup facility in case of nasty weather. Very clear directions need to be given on the invitation to guide guests to the ceremony, and these directions should be tested prior to sending out the invitations by someone unfamiliar with the area or someone who is not told where the ceremony will actually be, and instead follows the directions without the destination in mind. There should also be information on where the ceremony will be held in the event that the ceremony needs to be moved indoors due to weather.

An outdoor ceremony should take place in an area where there is abundant shade. The wedding party will be standing up for the entire emotional proceedings, and heat will take its toll. Too much heat will also be detrimental to any older guests attending the ceremony. Remember as well that you will have to arrange for a seating, a sound system, and decorations to be provided at the outdoor location, so a dry run will be important to determine needs as far as electrical cords and seat placement.

Large houses can be an ideal place for a non-traditional wedding ceremony, so long as you are ensured of adequate space. Courtroom weddings are rarely affairs in which a large number of guests will take part, but you will want to ensure that there is available seating for those who do wish to attend.

Location weddings are a great and memorable way to hold your special day, if they fit within your budget. Location weddings can also offer some opportunities in terms of convenience as they offer the opportunity to be held right at the location of your honeymoon. They can also be a very special part of the occasion, as most of the time you will not be able to spend time with the friends and family who attend your wedding. A location wedding allows for the entire party to be together over a period of several days, with lots of time to visit. Remember that you may have to make an additional trip to have final approval over the ceremony venue. You will also want to make sure there are very clear directions to the venue’s location on the invitations.

For some originality, why not consider a les traditional venue for your wedding ceremony? These suggestions are all ideal for smaller weddings and might even save you some money in the long run!

The fantastic palm island in the grenadines

The Fantastic Palm Island welcomed us with open arms, and we are so glad we chose it for our vacation.

Everything about it seemed to us to be special. What a fantastic place, especially if it is peace and quiet you are after. It is a secluded, private, hassle free resort, with a great beach, and palm trees set by a turquoise sea. If you don’t like the beach, then don’t go as the pool is on the small side, although to be fair, uncrowded due to the sheer lack of people!!

Our arrival set the scene for our vacation, as we were met on the jetty by four members of staff, including the manager, given cocktails, escorted to our room which was all very impressive. We were impressed by the staff, from the attention to detail in the room, to the way most members of staff greeted us by name – a small thing that makes a difference.

If you are going to Palm Island you must understand this is not the place to go if you want to be waited on hand and foot. It is not a five star, terribly smart, full 24 hour service, busy busy, need to be seen type of place.

I can list what Palm Island is outstanding for very easily, I’ve already mentioned a few of them.

If you want peace and quiet, no crowds at all, so you can unwind and relax properly. Perhaps you want to be able to roam about without restrictions either walking, jogging, or cycling, and be able to view wild life like iguanas, turtles, even humming birds.

Perhaps snorkelling is a priority, being able to easily reach world class reefs like the Tobago Cays, or you are a beach bum and like nothing better than feeling you are Robinson Crusoe on your own private island.

Maybe there comes a time on your vacation when you want to socialise with your fellow guests in a nice bar, and the interaction with the bar staff is important to your vacation, then for all these reasons Palm Island is ideal

Whilst accommodation and Food play a large part in any vacation, somehow their importance on Palm Island is secondary to the ‘holiday lifestyle’ you get on Palm Island. It’s not that they aren’t of high quality because the food is terrific especially in the evenings, with a different menu every night, and the rooms are lovely although air conditioning might be aproblem, somehow they take second place to all the other plusses.

Palm Island is definitely worth visiting.

Searching for your california business for sale

Are you interested in finding and buying a California business for sale? There is no doubt that the real estate in here is a force to be reckoned with. Whether you have invested in real estate in the past or you are just starting out, you have a great chance of being a success when you buy in this state! There are a lot of great opportunities from franchises to mature companies that are up for grabs; you simply have to choose the one that is right for you. So, you have the idea but what next?

Buying anything that is worth something can be stressful and may take you some serious time to determine if you are making the right choice, and when you buy real estate of any type this is no exception. Finding and buying a California business for sale can be difficult, but if you have someone on your side to help you through the process you will find that it is not as hard as it would be otherwise. At this point you may be wondering who exactly you should call to help you, since you don’t know anyone that knows anything about the industry.

The person that you need to get in touch with to help you is a broker, also known as a real estate agent in some areas. A broker can help you find the opportunities that meet your need, and perhaps even develop what it is that you might want to invest in. When you are searching for a California business for sale you may become overwhelmed by all of the options. When you work with a broker they can help to keep you focused and also play devil’s advocate. It’s also nice to have someone on your side that is familiar with the industry and may even be able to give you some figures, percentages, or facts that will help you make the wisest decision.

Finding a broker doesn’t have to be difficult, in fact there are many of them out there. If you haven’t worked with such a professional in the past you may not know what to look for. One of the most important attributes to look for is someone who is willing to really listen to you. If you work with a broker that doesn’t really hear what you want, need, or what your concerns may be it will be more frustrating than if you were working on your own. You also want to work with someone who has a lot of experience in the market, as this will enable them to give you the best advice.

When looking for a California business for sale there is one broker company that can give you the experience as well as the ability to listen to you, and that would be Hughes Properties. This is a company that can give you the personal attention that you need. Visit this company and learn more about them on their website at hughesproperties. com today to see if they can provide you with the help that you need!

Choosing sports apparel for women

Gone are the days when women who excel in sports are thought of as tomboys. With the rise of glamorous and fashionable sports icon such as Maria Sharapova and Martina Hingis, it seems that women have learned to combine fashion and sports with flair. Just because you are into sports or you are wearing sports gear does not mean that you can’t be chic. You can look good and still look ready for the kill!

Below are some tips on how to balance out fashion and sports.

Don’t be afraid of colors

Putting colors into your sports apparel and uniform is one way to put fashion into your otherwise drab outfit. Mix bold colors like reds, pinks and yellows with basic neutral ones such as blacks and whites for a more elegant combination.

You can also play with glittering colors like golds and silvers but don’t put so much. Outlines and hemlines in these colors are enough. Don’t put them all over your outfit.

Design differently

One of the things that makes a uniform stand out is the way it was designed. Of course, you cannot just wear something really new without first considering its suitability and functionality for the game. If you can, it is better if you can design the outfit yourself as you know what works for you and what does not. You can play with the cut and the fabrics. In fact, you can combine fabrics.

For instance, you can put one fabric for the top and another for the bottom. If this cannot work, you can always add fabrics on the hemline. Patterns are also great designs that you can incorporate into your uniform. If putting a separate pattern is too much for the uniform, you can choose a fabric that already has a wonderful pattern and have that fabric outfitted for you.

It’s in the details

Putting really intricate details on your outfit is one way of being fashionable without sacrificing much of the look of your sports uniform. Designers can put in embroidered hemlines or necklines. You can also have flowers, butterflies or whatever icons you want emblazoned into your outfit.

Other great details that you can add to sports apparel are ribbons and buttons that are strategically placed. Of course, this depends on the sports that you are in. There are sports where buttons on clothes can interfere with the game; so be very careful also in putting too much designs in your wardrobe.

Seo spam

Spam, in almost any form, is bad for your health. The vast majority of web users would agree with that statement and nobody would even think of the finely processed luncheon meat-product made by Hormel. Even the word itself is infectious in all the worst ways, being used to describe the dark-side and often deceptive side of everything from email marketing to abusive forum behaviour. In the search engine optimization field, spam is used to describe techniques and tactics thought to be banned by search engines or to be unethical business practices.

While writing copy for our soon to be revised website, the team put together a short list of the most outrageous forms of spam we had seen in the last year and a short explanation of the technique.

Please note, we do not encourage, endorse or suggest the use of any of the techniques listed here. We don't use them and our clients' sites continue to rank well at Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask. Also, since Google has been the dominant search engine for almost five years, most of the spammy tricks evolved in order to game Google and might not apply to the other engines.

1. Cloaking

Also known as "stealth", cloaking is a technique that involves serving one set of information to known search engine spiders while displaying a different set of information on documents viewed by clients. While there are unique situations in which the use of cloaking might be considered ethical in the day-to-day practice of SEO, cloaking is never required. This is especially true after the Jagger algorithm update at Google, which uses document and link histories as important ranking factors.

2. IP Delivery

IP delivery is a simple form of cloaking in which a unique set of information is served based on the IP number the info-query originated from. IP addresses known to be search engine based are served one set of information while unrecognized IP addresses, (assumed to be live-visitors) are served another.

3. Leader Pages

Leader pages are a series of similar documents each designed to meet requirements of different search engine algorithms. This is one of the original SEO tricks dating back to the earliest days of search when there were almost a dozen leading search engines sorting less than a billion documents. It is considered spam by the major search engines as they see multiple incidents of what is virtually the same document. Aside from that, the technique is no longer practical as search engines consider a far wider range of factors than the arrangement or density of keywords found in unique documents.

4. Mini-Site Networks

Designed to exploit a critical vulnerability in early versions of Google's PageRank algorithm, mini-site networks were very much like leader pages except they tended to be much bigger. The establishment of a mini-site network involved the creation of several topic or product related sites all linking back to a central sales site. Each mini-site would have its own keyword enriched URL and be designed to meet specific requirements of each major search engine. Often they could be enlarged by adding information from leader pages. By weaving webs of links between mini-sites, an artificial link-density was created that could heavily influence Google's perception of the importance of the main site.

In the summer of 2004, Google penalized several prominent SEO and SEM firms for using this technique by banning their entire client lists.

5. Link Farms

Link farms emerged as free-for-all link depositories when webmasters learned how heavily incoming links influenced Google. Google, in turn, quickly devalued and eventually eliminated the PR value it assigned to pages with an inordinate collection or number of links. Nevertheless, link farms persist as uninformed webmasters and unethical SEO firms continue to use them.

6. Blog and/or Forum spam

Blogs and forums are amazing and essential communication technologies, both of which are used heavily in the daily conduct of our business. As with other Internet based media, blogs and forum posts are easily and often proliferated. In some cases, blogs and certain forums also have established high PR values for their documents. These two factors make them targets of unethical SEOs looking for high-PR links back to their websites or those of their clients. Google in particular has clamped down on Blog and Forum abuse.

7. Keyword Stuffing

At one time, search engines were limited to sorting and ranking sites based on the number of keywords found on those documents. That limitation led webmasters to put keywords everywhere they possibly could. When Google emerged and incoming links became a factor, some even went as far as using keyword stuffing of anchor text.

The most common continuing example of keyword stuffing can be found near the bottom of far too many sites in circulation.

8. Hidden Text

It is amazing that some webmasters and SEOs continue to use hidden text as a technique but, as evidenced by the number of sites we find it on, a lot of folks still use it. They shouldn't.

There are two types of hidden text. The first is text that is coloured the same shade as the background thus rendering it invisible to human visitors but not to search spiders. The second is text that is hidden behind images or under document layers. Search engines tend to dislike both forms and have been known to devalue documents containing incidents of hidden text.

9. Useless Meta Tags

Most meta tags are absolutely useless. The unethical part is that some SEO firms actually charge for the creation and insertion of meta tags. In some cases, there seems to be a meta tag for virtually every possible factor but for the most part are not considered by search spiders.

StepForth only uses the description and keywords meta tags (though we are dubious about the actual value of the keywords tag), along with relevant robots. txt files. All other identifying or clarifying information should be visible on a contact page or included in the footers of each page.

10. Misuse of Directories

Directories, unlike other search indexes, tend to be sorted by human hands. Search engines traditionally gave links from directories a bit of extra weight by considering them links from trusted authorities. A practice of spamming directories emerged as some SEOs and webmasters hunted for valuable links to improve their rankings. Search engines have since tended to devalue links from most directories. Some SEOs continue to charge directory submission fees.

11. Hidden Tags

There are a number of different sorts of tags used by search browsers or website designers to perform a variety of functions such as; comment tags, style tags, alt tags, noframes tags, and http-equiv tags. For example, the "alt tag" is used by site-readers for the blind to describe visual images. Inserting keywords into these tags was a technique used by a number SEOs in previous years. Though some continue to improperly use these tags, the practice overall appears to be receding.

12. Organic Site Submissions

One of the most unethical things a service-based business can do is to charge clients for a service they don't really need. Charging for, or even claiming submissions to the major search engines are an example. Search engine spiders are so advanced they no longer require site submission to find information. Search engine spiders find new documents by following links. Site submission services or SEO firms that charge clients a single penny for submission to Google, Yahoo, MSN or Ask Jeeves, are radically and unethically overcharging those clients.

13. Email spam

Placing a URL inside a "call-to-action" email continues to be a widely used type of search marketing spam. With the advent of desktop search appliances, email spam has actually increased. StepForth does not use email to promote your website in any way.

14. Redirect spam

There are several ways to use the redirect function to fool a search engine or even hijack traffic destined for another website! Whether the method used is a 301, a 302, a 402, a meta refresh or a java-script, the end result is search engine spam.

15. Misuse of Web 2.0 Formats (ie Wiki, social networking and social tagging)

An emerging form of SEO spam is found in the misuse of user-input media formats such as Wikipedia. Like blog comment spamming, the instant live-to-web nature of Web 2.0 formats provide an open range for SEO spam technicians. Many of these exploits might even find short-term success though it is only a matter of time before measures are taken to devalue the efforts.

Search engine optimization spam continues to be a problem for the SEO industry as it tries to move past the perceptions of mainstream advertisers. When under-ethical techniques are used, trust (the basis of all business) is abused and the efforts of the SEO/SEM industry are called into question. Fortunately, Google's new algorithm appears to be on the cutting edge of SEO spam detection and prevention. Let's hope 2006 is the year the entire SEO industry goes on a spam-free diet.

Coaching developing a position of strength

It is incredible to me to see how many businesses operate with a mindset that gives every indication they do not want to succeed. These business operate from a position of weakness and essentially live off the charity of a few friends, family and business associates who purchase from these businesses out of a sense of grudging pity.

These businesses do not have the best price. They may not even have the best product, but somehow they hang on wondering why it is so hard for them to be successful.

There are also businesses that operate from a position of strength. Interestingly many of these businesses do not have significant capital, they may not be household names, yet their sites continue to garner customers who are very satisfied with their shopping experience.

When you operate from a position of strength you are telling your customers that you believe in your product and you believe in their ability to make an informed decision.

When you operate from a position of weakness you are telling any who will listen that you are simply trying to make a living and if they don’t buy from you then you’re probably not going to be around next month.

Operating from a position of strength gives your customers freedom to really explore the product and be comfortable with their purchase. Operating from a position of weakness gives your customers a feeling of guilt and makes them feel a bit squeamish about making a purchase they may not really want.

A position of strength isn’t about power and money as much as it is about a passion for the product and a desire to help people.

A position of weakness is all about money, but generally lacks any real passion for the product and very little desire to help anyone other than themselves.

One of the reasons I think some businesses choose to operate from a position of weakness is because it seems like the path of least resistance when times are hard. If you can throw something together online and then send emails to friends, family and associates with the inference that this may be the only way you are able to succeed it may result in immediate sales. However, most of those sales will be charity driven.

When a business chooses to take their time, develop a quality website and then look to serve the customer in spite of any personal difficulties the long-term result is a customer base that enjoys working with you and can enjoy the product because it really was something they wanted.

If you are considering an online business I would encourage you to look at doing your best to operate from a position of strength. You will likely be more successful and have customers that are more satisfied. You might even find your own mood improving dramatically.

Buying clothing when christmas shopping

Christmas shopping can be a lot of fun. Spending some time searching for the perfect gift for everyone on your gift list can be a great deal of fun. It is also rewarding when you find and purchase a gift you just know your loved one will treasure. However, there is one aspect of Christmas shopping which seems to be difficult for everyone. It seems when it comes to buying clothing while Christmas shopping, everyone seems to have at least a slight hesitation. There are just so many variables when it comes to clothes shopping that it can be difficult to shop for clothing for those on your gift list. Some of the variables which make Christmas shopping for clothing so difficult include size, color, style and material. This article will take a look at why Christmas shopping for clothing is so difficult and will attempt to offer some insight into how to purchase clothing for others.

The matter of size is one thing that makes Christmas shopping for clothing so difficult. You may have a good idea about what size your friend or family members is but it can be difficult to select the correct size particularly for items such as pants, skirts, dresses or blazers. Items such as sweatshirts in which the fit does not have to be perfectly tailored are easier to shop for but even with these items you still run the risk of selecting a shirt which is too small. A sweatshirt which is too big is considered acceptable as many people where these shirts large as a style but shirts which are too small can be rather uncomfortable and will not likely be worn by the recipient. When Christmas shopping for clothing it is wise to either select casual items or ask the recipient to try on the clothing. This ruins the element of surprise but will help you to select the correct size. You may wish to discuss your intentions to purchase clothing for your friend or family member and ask them if they would prefer to receive a surprise or to participate in the selection process by trying on items before they are purchased.

Selecting colors is another difficult aspect of Christmas shopping for clothing. In general if you know your friend or family members wears a particular color often, it is safe to assume they like this color and enjoy wearing this color. However, even this safe strategy can backfire on you at times. You may decide to purchase an article of clothing in this particular color because you see your friend or family members wearing the color often but you may soon find out they are tired of wearing that particular color and were hoping to receive clothing in other colors to expand their wardrobe. Again you can alleviate this problem by talking to your friend or relative and asking them what colors they would like to wear. This lets them know you are planning to purchase clothing for them for Christmas but does not give away the type of clothing or the style of the clothing.

Perhaps one of the most difficult dilemmas associated with Christmas shopping for clothing is selecting a style which will be appealing to the recipient of the Christmas gift and will look good on the recipient as well. If you are purchasing a gift of clothing for a really close friend or family member you may have a good idea about the style of clothing she likes because you see the clothing she wears on a regular basis but it still can be difficult to pick out items which you know she will like and will be flattering on her in terms of style. Again one of the best ways to deal with this situation is to ask the friend or relative to come shopping with you.

When do i order and send out my wedding invitations

It is my recommendation that you order your Wedding Invitations at least four weeks prior to mailing them out to your guests. This will allow you plenty of time to receive your Wedding Invitations and double check your order to make sure you have received everything you ordered and no mistakes were made. It will allow you enough time for a reprint is needed. It will also allow you plenty of time to address all the envelopes.

Wedding Invitations should be mailed out so that your guest will receive them at least six to eight weeks prior to the Wedding. This will allow your guest enough time to make travel plans and return the respond card you included with your Wedding Invitation. Typically the respond by date should be two weeks prior to your wedding date. This should allow you enough time to make your final preparations.

You will have many other things to take care of as your wedding approaches and the last thing you need is to have to rush to get your wedding invitations addressed and mailed out. There will undoubtedly be last minute names to add and address changes to deal with so please allow yourself plenty of time to accomplish this task.

3 little known tips to buying fitness equipment

Did you know that buying fitness equipment for your home isn’t really that difficult?

It’s true that the world of fitness equipment can seem like a maze at times and that there are literally hundreds of different types of fitness equipment pieces that might work well for your home arrangement. However, with a little guidance, the process really isn’t that hard and you will be amazed at the bargains that you can find if you just dig a little deeper than the average consumer is usually prepared to. Let’s take a look at some tips to help you out in your quest for new fitness equipment.

1. Look at used equipment. This is where some good deals can be found. Fitness equipment can obtain a weird status in a person’s home. They might have been really excited to buy it initially and dreams of a fit body and monthly gym savings might have filled their head. However, after 3 months, the equipment often sits vacant in that person’s home. Used equipment can be a really good deal due to the fact that it’s often times almost as good as new but now it’s for sale. To you. For cheap. Check out newspapers, Ebay, and other places; compare prices and get a deal.

2. Consider commercial fitness equipment. Often times, you can buy the same equipment that your local gym has. Imagine, you can have that same (gasp!) Stairmaster that has dogged you for years at the local Ballys, right in your basement. This might be appealing to some who have the capital to invest in a large piece of equipment. If you no longer have to pay a $50 monthly fee to go to a gym every month, this might be a really smart investment. Look into commercial equipment, you might be pleasantly surprised.

3. The first two points are almost worthless without considering the financing of your new fitness equipment. When looking to finance your new set of fitness equipment there are tons of important factors to keep in mind. You really don’t want to be paying too much for equipment that might be found at a cheaper price (after everything is considered) elsewhere.

The benefits of article marketing as a form of website promotion

I have been reading recently about the benefits of article marketing. A recent post to the ezinearticles blog asked if writing articles was worth wasting time over. I have been writing articles for quite a long time and in my opinion it certainly is. I will explain why I think it is in this article.

Around a year ago I wrote my first article and posted it to ezinearticles, which many people regard as the best article directory/website. Looking back I have to admit that I did not really know what I was doing, and in truth the article was not that impressive. I continued to write more articles and continued to make mistakes.

Unlike other directories who seem to accept any old article, ezinearticles check what you are submitting. In these early days a guy called Wally would regularly e-mail me with advice on how I could improve my articles. At that stage my articles were too short, not thought out, and basically rushed. I did not realise the value of writing articles and did not make the required time available for this form of web promotion.

I found it difficult to keep thinking of new material and fell into another trap of re-submitting articles I had already written. I would change a few words or would re-word paragraphs. I was not aware that this was against their guidelines, however Wally soon informed me that it was. Tip, always read the guidelines.

I am now spending a lot more time when I write the articles and feel that they have gradually improved, this has been confirmed by Wally himself I am pleased to report.

As for the benefits of writing articles and is it worth your time and effort? I have had e-mails from all around the world from people who have enjoyed reading my articles, maybe I am a bit sad but this gives me a little buzz. Some of these people have included the article in their blog or on their website, thus creating an additional backward link to my website/s.

The people who read the article are potential visitors to your site, a visitor you would not have had, had you not written the article. That visitor could of course turn into a client or purchaser of your product/s.

For me search engines are going down the path of seeing one-way backward links as by far the most powerful form of link. Many people are offering link exchanges with other websites to boost their page rank or search engine position. There are many automated link building programs which make link exchanges even easier to obtain. Search engines have realised that this is taking place and place a much lower value on these type of links. One way links are not as easy to obtain, however writing articles has the potential of creating many one way backward links to you site and therefore is a must for any serious webmaster.

I have not written nearly two hundred articles and have seen huge increases in traffic to my websites as well as increases in their page rank.

People may disagree with my belief that article marketing is worth the time and effort, I do not really care as it works for me.

Billiard gloves. to wear them or not to wear them

Billiard gloves are a pretty popular item in the billiard supplies department. I have owned a couple different brands in the 20 plus years of playing pool and billiard games.

I normally do not wear gloves when I play unless I am having a challenge with my bridge hand sticking to the pool cue.

You will find quite a few players wearing billiard gloves in the pool leagues. I have noticed they are more common with new players or beginners. You will even find a few of the pro players wearing gloves if you watch pool on television.

There are 2 main reasons for wearing gloves while playing pool. The first is to eliminate your hand sticking to the cue and dragging down your stroke. The second is to help keep your hand from turning colors from the billiards chalk on the pool table.

There are several types of billiard gloves to choose from. I have included a link where you can find a variety of gloves on sale now. Find Billiard Gloves Here

I have found that wearing the gloves does not feel natural to me and may take away from my concentration a bit. I am very comfortable with my closed tripod bridge and have no problem with the cue being sticky most of the time.

I do however have a problem with my hand being covered with billiards chalk. If you are new to the game and just learning how to use a closed bridge, I would recommend a glove. This will make the cue slide between your fingers with ease.

I encourage your thoughts, comments and questions on this blog and would love to hear from you. Please post a comment if only to say hello.

To Your Run Out Success,

Ted

Elliptical exercise equipment - what to look for when buying

:
Buying elliptical exercise equipment? There are so many different brands and types of ellipticals out there - it can get confusing! How do you know which one is best for you and how do you avoid buying a lemon?

In order to keep things simple and have the very best buying experience, here are 3 key tips to help you choose the best elliptical exercise equipment:

#1) Price

If you want a quality elliptical trainer, be prepared to spend at least $800. Why? Because most ellipticals under this price point just aren't built to stand up over the long haul.

Example: My $400 elliptical that I bought from a department store several years back lasted 3 months - 4 if you count the last month it was used as a clothes hanger in my living room.

After 3 months it developed a loud squeaking noise that couldn't be fixed - no matter how long or hard my handyman husband worked on it.

If I'd been smart enough to spend a bit more, I'd probably still have the elliptical today. In the end it was a huge waste of money and time.

So the bottom line is this: If you're really serious about getting in shape, you deserve to invest in a piece of exercise equipment that's going to last you - so be ready to spend a bit more on your elliptical trainer. If you consider how long the elliptical will last you, you actually SAVE money over the long term.

#2) Who Are You Buying It From?

While there are lots of places the sell elliptical exercise equipment - both online and off, make sure they have several years of experience and a solid return policy. If a company has experience selling elliptical equipment, this will make your transaction (and shipping) go much more smoothly.

A solid return policy also gives you peace of mind when buying your elliptical. For example, even if you try your elliptical out in a store, you might get it home and find that after a week it strains your arms or hurts your hips. You want to know that you can return your elliptical without a hassle.

Many specialty fitness stores will offer some kind of return policy and most experienced online elliptical stores also offer you a standard 30 day return policy. But it's always important to check before you buy.

#3) Upper Body Arms

The beauty of an elliptical trainer is that it offers you a total body workout.

Whereas treadmills and recumbent bikes tend to work mainly the lower body only, ellipticals offer you a chance to burn calories and build strength using upper body arm handles. This means more calories burned in less time.

Surprisingly enough however, not all elliptical trainers offer upper body arms with their units. Make sure you choose an elliptical with upper body workout arms included if this is an option you want.

It usually won't cost you extra to have upper body arms however one note of caution: Many of the cheaper ellipticals don't necessarily have the coordination between the arms and legs exactly right. This can result in injury or a less efficient workout.

Rule of Thumb: You should not have to lean over to use the upper body arms.

So there are three things to consider when buying elliptical exercise equipment. Keep these things in mind and you'll save yourself time and loads of frustration!

Baseballs greatest cheaters

The great American game of baseball!! Home runs, triple plays, and the World Series, make viewing this sport a great pastime. Fans, over generations of time, have come to hold special individual memories of baseball. It’s sealed in their minds; baseball IS the greatest sport of all time. Remembering, all is in the eye of the beholder, can it be that baseball history can define itself by years of great team lineups, talented athletes, extravagant game plays and greatest cheaters???

Who would have thought that in all baseball has provided for its fans, a set of stats dedicated to cheaters would fit in? No one would think that there would be a way that great athletes would conjure up or develop ways to improve their stats, career or even their place in baseball history. It is proven, however, that Hall of Fame greats and record breakers in the field of ball playing would actually be at the head of such schemes--no matter the severity of the scheme. Cheaters have been recognized throughout this sport since almost at its beginnings.

The most notable offenders and cheating title holders would be: John McGraw, Gaylord Perry, Ty Cobb, Mike Scott, Ken Hrbeck, Joe Niekro, Pete Rose, and Albert Belle. Later, and to add some variety to this interesting topic, one of the many baseball scandals include the 1919 Chicago White Sox sellout.

John McGraw was a Hall of Fame great who had a reputation for holding base runners by their belt loops and would even go as far as blocking and tripping runners. He was not afraid to try this stunt with runners larger than his 155lb frame.

Gaylord Perry, Hall of Fame inductee, had the infamous "spitter" ball or "Vaseline ball". While compiling his 314-265 record, this pitcher would stand on his mound and touch his sleeve or cap. At these times, he would "load up" his ball, or appear to "load up" his ball in order to psych out the batter at the plate, enhancing the hopes for a strikeout. Because of this naughty habit, this great athlete was one of the few pitchers in the sport to get reprimanded. In 1982 he was suspended from baseball for doctoring the ball.

Ty Cobb, or otherwise known as the "Georgia Peach", was not a Hall of Famer, but held dozens of the league’s records. However, despite the records, the major reason that this athlete was able to steal bases on occasion without fail was because fielders would fear the wrath of his sharpened spikes. Cobb had a nasty habit of using his pointed spikes as weapons on the base paths.

Mike Scott, also a holder of dozens of major league statistics, had a habit of using emery boards not for the nails on his hands but to shave a little bit here and there on the ball. Altering the ball in this way allowed many of the hitters to be potential strikeout victims.

Kent Hrbek was a charismatic player who helped his team reach two World Series. In 1991, his charisma was not enough to save him when in a play, a member of the opposing team landed on his base. Lo and behold, Hrbek in an orchestrated maneuver he thought to be covert bumped the fellow off the base. He tagged the guy out. What Hrbek did not know, was that there were cameras running at certain angles poised to catch him in the act. Hrbek himself found out what it was like to be OUT!

Joe Niekro was no stranger to the emery board, ball-shaving fix. Even though Niekro claimed the emery board in his pocket was to file his fingernails so he could keep his knuckleball skills in check, it wasn’t until 1987 he was caught cheating. An umps’ eye caught an emery board flying out of Niekro’s pocket and Niekro got suspended for 10 days, no doubt giving the pitcher sufficient time to keep a neat set of nails.

Pete Rose was a gambler. At times in the world of sports, inside information has benefited players or fans alike. One small fact could swing a bet one way or another, but no one would think that a player would bet on his own team. It would not only be ethically incorrect, but a detrimental career move if caught. Hall of Fame inductee Pete Rose made such a career-crippling move by placing bets on the outcomes of his own teams’ games!

In the unholy name of baseball cheating, there was Albert Belle. He was known to have "his own kind" of special bat; one that could have been known to hold more cork than a million bottles of champagne. In 1994, Belle was suspended for seven games in an occurrence where Albert’s bat was confiscated by an umpire after suspicions of bat tampering were made known to him.

Last, but probably forever in the name of baseball, not least, it would only seem fair to mention one event that has come to be known as one of baseball’s greater scandals. Most times, individual team members could be blamed for tampering with this great sport. But for the sake of keeping any more skeletons from coming out of closets, it can be safe to discuss this topic: The 1919 Chicago White Sox Sellout. Imagine a crowd of fans that grow to the tune of around 43,000 strong. Fans driving from far and wide. Fans waiting to see their team rise to victory in The World Series. Hopes for the true fan gets crushed when it is discovered that eight players of one team were paid off to lose to the other team. Then insult adds to injury; it becomes clear that the event was due to a master mob plan. The eight players involved get suspended, and later are banned from baseball for life. The White Sox reputation suffers for many years to come.

With all that said, throughout baseball’s history of cheaters and scandal, there is only one phrase that can sum up the result of the intentions of those trying to reinvent the rules of baseball for personal gain and that phrase is - "Cheaters NEVER prosper."
